Why is my child's urine yellow?

Children's body resistance is not as strong as adults', so they are easily invaded by germs. Some diseases are hidden and not easy to show symptoms, but you can judge whether the child is unwell by looking at the child’s urine. If a child has excessive internal heat or has problems with his urinary system, his urine will generally be yellow. Therefore, parents can pay more attention to whether the color of their children's urine is normal so as to judge their children's health. Let’s take a look at why children’s urine is very yellow.

Urine contains a certain amount of uric acid, urea and other substances produced by the body, which are colored in themselves. It is just because the concentration is relatively small that urine normally appears almost colorless. However, when the concentration of these substances reaches a certain proportion, the urine will turn yellow. It may also be a liver problem, or it may be caused by dehydration, inflammation, and urinary tract infection. The yellow urine of babies is a natural detoxification phenomenon of the body. Due to the various metabolic activities of the human body, a large amount of energy is consumed, and the cells inside the human body will secrete various energy waste residues that are not fully utilized and cannot be reused, and enter the bladder through the renal glands and urethra.

Normal baby urine is light yellow. It is more clear when it is cold and more yellow when it is hot. This is related to sweating and how much water you drink, but it can also change with diet. If you consume an acidic diet, your urine will be dark in color. If you consume an alkaline diet, your urine will be light in color. Sometimes, taking a few riboflavin tablets orally can cause the urine to turn dark yellow. Changes in urine color like these are extremely short-lived and will quickly resolve on their own.

In addition, when the urinary organs become purulent, yellow turbid pyuria will also be discharged. Normal fresh urine is light yellow in color because it contains a yellow pigment called urochrome. However, the color of urine can also be dark or light depending on the amount of water you drink. If you drink more water and urinate more, the proportion of urochrome in the urine will be smaller, and the color will be lighter; if you drink less water, the proportion of urochrome in the urine will be larger, and the color will appear yellow. If urine is left for some time, its color will become darker. This is because some of the urochrome in the urine has been oxidized into urochrome.
