How long does it take for baby malnutrition to heal?

Many people who have not been mothers are not very clear about malnutrition. Even those who have just become mothers have never encountered this symptom. This is mainly because the food is not digested during the feeding process, which leads to damage to the spleen and stomach function. Therefore, insufficient nutrition supply will damage the intestines over time. The child's body will be thinner and he will not like to eat much. What should we do in this situation?

What to do if your baby has malnutrition? What is malnutrition?

Malnutrition is generally caused by improper feeding, which leads to damage to the spleen and stomach, failure to digest food in time, and insufficient nutrition supply. However, it may also be caused by chronic diarrhea, intestinal parasites and other diseases that have not been cured for a long time, directly damaging the spleen and stomach.

Generally, babies with malnutrition refuse to eat and will not gain weight. They look thin, sleep restlessly at night, are not in a good mental state during the day, and have irregular bowel movements. Malnutrition is common in babies aged 1 to 5 years old, especially in the summer, when the condition becomes more obvious.

In addition, when the baby has malnutrition, some mothers will mistakenly think that it is caused by the baby eating something that causes heatiness, and then based on their own experience, give the baby herbal tea to reduce heat, and the baby will get better. In fact, this is abnormal. Often giving babies cold foods such as herbal tea will not only fail to reduce internal heat, but will also harm the baby's stomach and intestines, causing malnutrition to worsen. This is something mothers need to pay close attention to.

How to treat baby malnutrition:

1. Change the feeding method

When your baby has a poor appetite, you must never force him to eat, as it is often difficult for him to digest the food. Some babies may even vomit, which makes them hate eating even more. The best way is to eat small meals frequently so that the baby's stomach and intestines can stop and adjust. Then it is best not to let your baby eat snacks before meals, as this will cause your baby to skip meals due to eating too many snacks.

2. Give your baby a massage

Take off the baby's shirt, and use the thumbs, index fingers, and middle fingers of both hands to gently pinch the skin on the baby's back along both sides of the baby's spine. Slowly massage forward, starting from the coccyx, all the way to the Dazhui point on the neck, from top to bottom, from bottom to top, massage back and forth several times. Remember, lift the skin up every three pinches. This method is effective and comfortable. Do it once in the morning and once in the evening for better results. You can also massage the abdomen. First, the mother must rub her hands to warm them up so that the baby will not feel cold. Then, gently massage the baby's abdomen in a clockwise direction about 30 times.
