What causes pain in the soles of children’s feet?

Generally speaking, children do not need to walk for a long time, nor do they need to stand for a long time. Unless they go out for a hike, children will feel special pain in their feet. However, in daily life, there are some children who neither walk nor stand for a long time, but feel unbearable pain in their feet. Parents must be cautious at this time, as it may be related to the disease. So, what causes pain in the soles of children's feet?

When children complain of foot pain, parents do not need to worry too much, because this is most likely growing pains. The so-called growing pains refer to pain in the front of the calf or around the knee joint in children between the ages of three and twelve or thirteen without any foot injuries. The pain mostly occurs in the evening. Excessive exercise and fatigue will aggravate the pain. The pain will disappear after the child rests.

Why is a child's foot pain called growing pains? The reason why children complain of foot pains is the same reason that causes growing pains. During the period between three and twelve or thirteen years old, children's bodies grow very fast and their height increases significantly, growing seven to eight centimeters taller every year. It is precisely because bones grow rapidly, but the nerves, muscles and tendons around the bones grow relatively slowly, that a feeling of pulling pain occurs. Secondly, when children are learning to walk, the tibia of their lower legs will bend slightly. In order to offset this misalignment of the downward support force, the body will experience a certain degree of knee valgus. As the child grows, these two temporary deformities will be corrected and normally will not cause pain. In a small number of children, these two deformities are not corrected in time, so the leg muscles are often in a tense state to maintain joint stability, which can also cause children to complain of foot pain. The last reason for children's foot pain is that they are too active during the day, which causes muscle fatigue and lactic acid production, which can also cause muscle soreness.

After understanding the reasons why children complain about foot pain, parents don’t have to worry too much. Normal growing pains will not affect children’s health. Parents just need to pay attention to their children’s calcium supplements.
