What should I do if my baby's forehead is bruised?

Every baby will have bumps and bruises of varying degrees when starting to learn to crawl or walk. This is normal and will not have any impact as long as it is not serious. However, if some external injuries are found, it should attract the attention of parents. In fact, many parents know that if a child’s forehead is bruised by a fall, they can gently rub it and the bruise will go away. Is this method correct? So what should you do if your baby’s forehead is bruised?

1. Always pay attention to your baby's safety

Many mothers have already felt this, so there is no need to say more. This should not be taken lightly, especially when parents are sleep deprived in the morning. When leaving temporarily, be sure to build things around the bed (which cannot completely guarantee safety), or place it in a safe guardrail bed.

2. Falling out of bed may be inevitable

If it happens, don't panic too much. Don't be too hasty to pick up your baby from the ground, and don't use too much force to avoid causing other unnecessary injuries. If a baby starts crying immediately after falling, the possibility of brain injury is generally low. Babies are most afraid of falling on the back of their heads. If they fall face down, the danger is generally smaller and only external injuries need to be treated.

4. When the baby falls on his head, you should go to the hospital immediately in the following situations

1) Bleeding trauma on the head;

2) The baby did not cry after falling, but was not fully conscious, semi-comatose and sleepy;

3) Within two days after the fall, the child has repeated vomiting, excessive sleepiness, poor spirits, or severe crying;

4) Within two days after the fall, bleeding or discharge from the nose or ears, or uneven pupils occur.

Generally, if you fall and hit your head and cause severe concussion or intracranial hemorrhage, the symptoms will appear quickly, at the latest within 24 hours, so you should go to the hospital as soon as possible if you have symptoms.

5. Mitigation

If your baby falls and hits his head and there is no bleeding but a small swelling, you should immediately apply cold compress to treat it. If the swelling is large or red, you can apply some sesame oil as an emergency measure, or apply moistened potato slices on it, which can help relieve pain and remove blood stasis. For a while after the baby falls, try to talk to him and tease him to divert his excitement, and do not hold him while sleeping. If the baby falls asleep soon after crying after falling, wake him up within an hour. If he wakes up crying, then there is no problem.
