Baby falls asleep on his own

Baby falls asleep on his own

Raising a child is a very hard thing, especially coaxing a child to sleep gives many parents a headache. Babies sleep differently from adults. They need to sleep several times a day and wake up easily at night. It is very tiring to coax them every time. However, as the child grows older, his daily routine gradually becomes regular and he can gradually fall asleep on his own. So, when does the baby start to fall asleep on his own? Let’s take a look below.

At what age do babies start to fall asleep on their own?

Falling asleep on one's own means that a healthy child, when sleepy but not hungry, has a good sleeping environment arranged by his parents. After completing the sleeping routine, the child can fall asleep independently without relying on external help such as eating or rocking. And complete the transition between deep and light sleep, and smoothly move from a semi-awake state to a sleeping state. In fact, this ability exists from birth, but it takes longer to be able to do it regularly, which corresponds to "being able to fall asleep on your own regularly."

This is mainly a matter of habit. There is no requirement on how old a child must be to fall asleep on his own. It will not affect the child's growth and development if the family members coax the child to sleep. For young children, family company is more important. I personally prefer intimate parenting. If the child cannot accept it, do not force the child to sleep on his own.

How to train your baby to fall asleep independently?

Ensure a suitable environment for the baby, swaddle the baby, and make sure the temperature is consistent when the baby is changing. At the same time, it does not have to be completely silent, white noise can be used.

You can hold and rock the baby or feed the baby with milk, but it is best to put the baby down and coax him to sleep when he becomes drowsy in your arms or after feeding. This is called avoiding the baby's sleep associations.

Because the sleep cycle of a baby is about 40 minutes, but when the baby wakes up and moves, observe first and then intervene. It is also the time to train your baby to fall asleep independently.

After the introduction of the above content, I believe mothers all know that it is hard to say exactly when the baby starts to sleep independently. This is related to the baby's habits. Therefore, mothers can consciously train the baby's sleep time, but don't force it too much. It is more important to provide a certain safe environment when the baby is sleeping.
