Causes of tachycardia in children

Causes of tachycardia in children

Children will have some health problems in the process of growing up, and these problems, no matter how big or small, cannot be ignored. Among them, tachycardia in children is a big problem. In fact, there are many reasons that can cause this symptom, but some parents don’t understand them. So what are the real causes of tachycardia in children? Which of these reasons are unknown?

1 Common causes

In childhood, there are many reasons that can cause sinus tachycardia, which often occurs when having a fever, crying, exercising, or being emotionally tense. If it occurs during sleep, the cause should be examined in detail, such as anemia, chronic infectious diseases, congenital heart disease, myocarditis, rheumatic fever, heart failure, hyperthyroidism, and the use of epinephrine or atropine, etc. Children's tachycardia can be treated, generally by improving the heart rate. The second is to prevent the recurrence of tachycardia. However, this depends on individual constitution. If a child has tachycardia, do not use medication blindly. Because some drugs that regulate arrhythmias can themselves aggravate existing arrhythmias.

2 Physiological reasons

Physiological sinus tachycardia is caused by sympathetic nerve excitement due to exercise, emotional tension or excitement, which increases the heart rate. Pathological causes include various infections, fever, anemia, shock, hypoxia, dehydration, various heart diseases, old age, hyperthyroidism, etc., which can all increase the heart rate. A child's tachycardia is a very serious problem and adults must not ignore it. If found, the child must go to the hospital for timely treatment.

3. Drug causes

Drug-induced sinus tachycardia is caused by the use of sympathomimetic drugs such as epinephrine, isoproterenol, hyoscyamine drugs such as atropine, scopolamine, hyoscyamine and ephedrine-type drugs, etc., which can increase the heart rate to varying degrees.
