Hidden phimosis in children

1. What is occult phimosis?

When he is 3-4 years old, the foreskin of most children can turn up by itself, exposing the glans penis. If the foreskin still cannot be turned up or the foreskin opening is very small at this time, it is called phimosis or prepuce. In hidden foreskin, the penis is retracted inside the body, with only the pointed foreskin protruding outside. If you squeeze the penis skin inward with your hands, the penis body will be exposed, but as soon as you release your hands slightly, the penis body will retract again.

2. Causes of latent phimosis

There are three reasons for its occurrence. First, the penis skin is underdeveloped and too short. Second, the foreskin cavity is too small. Third, the penis skin does not cover the corpus cavernosum, causing the corpus cavernosum to retract into the body without support. If hidden penis is not treated with surgery and is allowed to remain hidden for a long time and cannot be extended outward, the development of the penis will be restricted. Therefore, hidden penis must be corrected within a certain age (3-5 years old).

3. The harm of hidden phimosis

If the patient's penis deformity is severe, it will cause the urethra to curl into an angle, the urinary tract to become obstructed, and in severe cases, urinary retention may occur.
