What's going on when a child has a fever and his limbs are cold?

People will suffer from some diseases in their lives to a greater or lesser extent, and the groups with a high incidence of diseases are young children and the elderly with relatively low resistance, because these people have relatively poor physical fitness. Fever and cold limbs in children is a very common disease, and many parents do not know how to deal with their children's illness when they encounter this situation. So, what's going on when a child has a fever and cold limbs?

First, why do children have cold limbs when they have a fever? Infants and young children have a more active metabolism than adults, and their temperature regulation center is not fully developed, so their normal body temperature is higher than that of adults. However, there is a certain fluctuation in body temperature between day and night, which is low in the morning and high in the afternoon, but the fluctuation range does not exceed 1°C. What is the normal body temperature and what is the fever temperature?! So we first need to understand where we test the body temperature. There are usually three parts of the body to test body temperature. We often use the armpit, and clamp the thermometer under the armpit. Then, it is more common to use oral testing for comparison children. The last one is rectal temperature. Because the temperature of different parts will be different when tested. What is the normal range of the test values in these places? How many degrees is considered a fever?

Second, having a fever but cold hands and feet is a phenomenon of false cold and true heat, which is especially common in infants and young children under 3 years old. This is mainly because babies (especially infants) have less blood in their limbs than in their internal organs. Due to insufficient blood supply to their limbs, they are more likely to feel cold than adults. In addition, the baby's nervous system is not yet fully developed, and the autonomic nerves responsible for managing vasodilation and contraction are prone to disorder, causing the small blood vessels at the ends of the limbs to be in a spasmodic contraction state and become cold when the high fever first occurs. Because children's central nervous system is not yet fully developed, their ability to regulate body temperature is imperfect. If the ambient temperature is low, children's hands will be exposed to the outside for a longer period of time, so their hands and feet will become cold.

What's going on when a child has a fever and his limbs are cold? When a child has a fever, adults should not be anxious. We must first know how high the child's fever is. If it is below 38.5℃, we should first cool the child down physically at home. How to do physical cooling? If the temperature exceeds this, we should rush to the hospital for treatment. You can't eat meat when you have a cold or fever, will it make the situation worse? Why? The main reason is that there are a lot of protein and amino acids in meat. If you eat protein-rich food when you have a fever, your body will have to break down and digest a lot of vitamins. At the same time, protein will produce nitrogen in the body, which increases the burden on kidney metabolism. At the same time, it is not conducive to the recovery of fever. We should consume foods rich in vitamin C, B vitamins, and vitamin C. That is, you should consume more fresh fruits and vegetables. At the same time, because fever will consume a large amount of vitamin A in our body, we can supplement it through vitamin A preparations. However, when taking vitamin A preparations, you must take them under the guidance of a professional.
