Can a two-month-old baby lick fruit?

We all know that two-month-old babies are generally either drinking breast milk or formula. At this time, the baby has not yet started to eat complementary foods, so many mothers are taking care of the baby and making food for the baby, which is relatively easy. However, some mothers are afraid that the baby will lack vitamins during their growth, so they will let the baby eat some sweet fruits appropriately. Letting the baby lick fruits frequently will also help the baby with teething. So, can a two-month-old baby lick fruit?

Two-month-old babies have delicate internal organs and weak spleen and stomach systems. They should mainly eat breast milk or infant formula. Occasionally, they can drink boiled water or glucose water. Licking fruits should be fine, but tropical fruits such as mango, pineapple, and durian are not suitable, as they are prone to allergies. It is okay to lick other fruits, but don't eat them.

For babies under two months old, the only food is breast milk or formula milk, and no other food can be added. It is not until the baby is four months old that complementary foods are gradually added. The rule for adding complementary foods is a process from liquid to semi-solid and then to solid. The order of adding complementary foods is: start with rice cereal as liquid, then gradually move from thin to thick, and then to fruit, etc.

The fruit should be mashed into a paste before feeding the child, and should be fed gradually, from small amounts to large amounts. Give the child a little at first and observe for three days whether the child has any adverse reactions. If the child does not have allergic reactions or other reactions, the child can be fed normally. If a rash or abdominal pain or diarrhea occurs, stop eating this fruit for at least one month. It is necessary to wait at least three days after adding a new complementary food before adding the next one. This will also help determine which food is causing the child's allergy. If the baby is allergic to a certain food for the second time, the mother should pay attention and the baby should wait at least six months before adding the food again.

So can babies lick fruits when they are two months old? The answer is also don’t do that. Because fruits are relatively sweet, once babies get a taste of them, they will no longer like to drink bland, tasteless breast milk or formula milk. If this happens, the baby will develop bad habits of being picky eaters and not drinking milk properly. Wait until your baby is four months old and has added rice flour before starting to eat fruit puree. In addition, babies should eat seasonal fruits and make sure they are washed thoroughly.

Here, we do not recommend that mothers buy chew toys or other auxiliary tools for their babies. Long-term use of Yaoyaole is not only detrimental to oral development, but also will breed a lot of bacteria. Fruits are to be eaten, not drunk, so it is better not to remove the dietary fiber in the fruit to make it more nutritious.
