Bruise on baby's buttocks and back

Every change in the baby after birth is watched by the mother. Because many new mothers do not understand the baby's growth and development very well, sometimes their judgment of the baby's physical condition is not very accurate. From birth to adulthood, every day is very difficult for babies, and mothers worry about their babies growing up healthily. Some mothers find bruises on their babies’ buttocks and backs after they are born. Let’s find out what these bruises are.

The first legend: It is said that the baby is an angel who wants to be reincarnated into the human world to experience hardship and endure pain, but the baby is unwilling to come. His struggle angered the King of Hell, who kicked the baby down in anger, and then there was a large bruise on the baby's buttocks.

The second legend: Everyone needs to drink a bowl of Meng Po soup and walk across the Naihe Bridge before reincarnation. This way, after reincarnation, they can smoothly forget everything about their past life and wipe out all grudges and hatreds from their past life. However, some ghosts who are about to reincarnate for the first time are unwilling to forget everything about their past life. They refuse to drink Meng Po soup and resist Meng Po. As a result, they are caught and spanked by Meng Po, so the babies have bruises on their buttocks after they are born.

The third legend: Legend has it that every newborn baby is an angel beside God, but their tails are held by God. But when the baby finds his mother, he will struggle in various ways to break free from God's restraints, but at the same time he will also break his tail. So the bruise on the baby's buttocks after birth is the scar of the baby's broken tail.

The blue marks on the baby's buttocks are actually a birthmark called "Mongolian spots". This is very common among the yellow race, but not all yellow babies will have it. The probability of its occurrence is about 86%. Black people actually also have Mongolian spots, but because their skin is naturally darker, they are usually not visible. In addition, a small number of Caucasians also develop Mongolian spots.

Mongolian spots are mostly square, round or oval in shape, with unclear boundaries and inconsistent colors. They usually appear on the baby's buttocks and lumbar region, and may also appear on the head and neck, chest, abdomen, back and other parts. Its formation is related to the metabolism of melanin.

During the development of the embryo, melanin gradually differentiates from the center of the embryo and appears on the surface of the fetal skin, and is deposited evenly and regularly. When the baby is born, if the melanin does not pass through the junction of the dermis and the epidermis, the melanin will appear gray-blue through the skin, causing gray-blue Mongolian spots to appear on the skin surface, which is the blue bruises we see.

Generally speaking, Mongolian spots on babies will gradually fade when they are around three years old, and will disappear on their own when they are five or six years old, without the need for treatment. We would like to remind everyone that if you find that the Mongolian spots suddenly become larger or have ulcers and bleeding on the surface, you should take your baby to the hospital immediately for examination and treatment.
