Milk eczema, also known as fetal eczema and fetal sore, is a type of eczema that occurs in infants. It is prone to occur on the head and face of infants and young children, or may spread to other parts of the body. "Shengji Zonglu" says that if a child has wind-heat in the body, spleen and lung dysfunction, or dampness attacks the skin, stagnates blood and qi, and makes the skin thick and tough, it will develop into various types of ringworm. It may be slanted or round, and gradually grows larger. It will be slightly relieved when it is cold, but it will be itchy and stuffy when it is warm. Yellow juice will come out when scratched. It may also appear on the face, and the skin may be dry like nails. This is called milk ringworm.

At the beginning, the rash is shaped like millet grains, either scattered or densely clustered. The rash is red in color, and white flakes will appear when scratched. It looks like ringworm. Those without blisters and water oozing are called dry sores, which are caused by excessive wind and heat. If the skin is covered with millet and it itches excessively, and water oozes when it breaks and the sores become soaked in patches, it is called wet sores, which are caused by damp heat. Milk eczema begins to occur when the baby is 2 to 3 months old. Generally, milk eczema will naturally improve and disappear after 1 to 2 years old. The symptoms of this disease can be seen in infant eczema diagnosed by Western medicine.

1. Traditional Chinese Medicine

Treatment should be based on syndrome differentiation: if wind-heat is severe, the treatment should be to clear away heat and dispel wind; if damp-heat is severe, the treatment should be to clear away heat and dispel dampness. External treatment: For dry type, you can use moisturizing cream; for wet type, it is suitable to use clam powder. The main ingredients are: clams, light powder, and red Sichuan pepper. First, beat the clams into small pieces and fry them in a pan until they turn yellow. Then add the Sichuan pepper and fry until black smoke appears. Put them into a jar and seal it for storage. The next day, add talcum powder and grind it into fine powder, store in a jar, and rub with sesame oil. At the same time, breastfeeding mothers should avoid spicy, greasy and other heat-promoting foods.

2. Traditional Chinese medicine prescription

(1) Mix the powder of Phellodendron chinense, Hanshui stone and Indigo naturalis with sesame oil and apply to the affected area. Make the mixture thicker if there is a lot of exudate and thinner if there is less exudate. Apply twice a day.
