How to treat strabismus in children effectively

Strabismus is a common vision disease in life, especially for infants and young children, the incidence of strabismus is relatively high. As a parent, once you find that your child has strabismus, you should seek medical attention in time and do a good job of correction. Through investigation, it is found that the earlier strabismus is discovered, the better the treatment effect. We must avoid strabismus problems and avoid adverse effects on children's future.

1. Use eye drops correctly.

First, the patient should wash his hands, then lie on his back with his eyes looking up. The family member or the patient should use the thumb and index finger of his left hand to separate the upper and lower eyelids, gently pull the lower eyelid downward with the thumb, take the eye dropper bottle in the right hand, apply the eye drops to the lower fornix, then close the eyes, gently rotate the eyeballs for 1-2 minutes, and wipe off the leaked liquid with absorbent paper. It is worth noting that when applying eye drops, the distance between the bottle mouth and the eyelid should be 1-2cm, and do not touch the eyelashes. If two eye drops need to be applied at the same time, there should be a period of time in between, preferably 3-5 minutes, and 1-2 drops should be applied each time. Suspension drugs such as fluorometholone should be shaken well before use.

2. Pay attention to eye hygiene

Do not rub your eyes, do not overuse your eyes, avoid excessive eye fatigue, and ensure adequate sleep. For patients with refractive errors, they need to wear glasses in time for treatment after surgery. Some patients with accommodative esotropia should wear their original corrective glasses after surgery and try not to use close-up vision to avoid recurrence of accommodative esotropia. If you have amblyopia, you need to undergo amblyopia training under the guidance of a doctor. One thing worth emphasizing is that we should pay attention to balanced nutritional intake in our diet.

3. Increase the frequency of baby's eye movement

The baby should not be placed in the cradle for too long. Parents should pick up the baby from time to time and walk around to make the baby curious about the things around him/her, thereby increasing the movement of the eyeballs, enhancing the coordination of the eye muscles and nerves, and avoiding strabismus.

4. Change your baby’s sleeping position frequently

Changing the baby's sleeping position frequently, sometimes to the left and sometimes to the right, can change the direction of light projection frequently, so that the baby's eyes will no longer often turn to one side, thus avoiding strabismus.

5. Toys can be hung at multiple angles

Colorful toys hung on the baby's crib should not be hung too close, but should be more than 40 cm, and should be hung in multiple directions to prevent the child from focusing on one point for a long time and developing strabismus.
