What are the factors that affect children’s intelligence?

Children have always been the most important existence in the family, and most of the family's efforts will be given to the children. The most important thing during a child's development is the development of intelligence. Therefore, how to train a child's intelligence and wisdom is a problem that parents rack their brains for. There are many factors that affect children's intelligence, and we need to understand them one by one. Let's take a look at the factors that affect children's intelligence.

1. Genetic factors

From a genetic point of view, the key to whether children are smart or not lies in the mother. Because the genes on the mother's X chromosome determine the degree of development of the child's cerebral cortex, while the father's genes have a more important influence on shaping the emotions and personality types of the offspring.

You should know that only a smart and wise wife can help you have children with high IQ. Generally speaking, if parents have high IQs, their children’s IQs will not be low. This genetic factor is also reflected in blood relationships. If both parents are locals, the average IQ of their children is 102; while the IQ of children born to parents who marry from different provinces is 109; if the parents are cousins, the number of children with low IQ increases significantly.

The average IQ of children born to mothers before the age of 23 is 103, while that of children born between the ages of 24 and 28 is as high as 109.29, and that of children born over the age of 29 is below 105. Therefore, it can be considered that 24-28 years old is the best childbearing period.

3. The mother’s psychological condition during pregnancy

If the mother is overly nervous and anxious during pregnancy, her children will have obviously unstable personality and emotions when they grow up, and their intellectual development may be affected to varying degrees.

4. Did the mother smoke or drink alcohol during pregnancy?

Among newborns born to mothers who smoke more, 12% are low-birth-weight babies, which is 2-3 times more than that of non-smokers; some have significantly weakened intelligence; some even have developmental deformities. Alcoholism is also very harmful to the fetus. When alcohol enters the body of a pregnant woman, it can poison the fetus, leading to birth abnormalities and congenital mental retardation.

5. Did the mother have a picky diet when she was pregnant?

It is well known that the long-term impact of protein and other nutritional deficiencies in pregnant women on fetal development and intelligence after birth. Pregnant women should learn some nutrition knowledge and consciously overcome the problem of picky eating and partial eating. Even when the pregnancy reaction is strong, they should force themselves to eat.
