How to care for newborns with damaged brain cells

Neonatal brain cell damage is the most common central nervous system disease in the neonatal period, the most common cause of perinatal brain injury, and one of the main causes of neonatal disability and death. At present, there is no definite specific treatment, and the comprehensive treatment method is still supportive treatment. Nursing is a key link in comprehensive treatment. Therefore, it is even more important to use scientific methods to strengthen the care of children with neonatal brain cell damage.

The care methods are as follows:

Limit fluid intake and control cerebral edema. Newborns have incomplete cardiopulmonary development, so the infusion speed and amount must be strictly controlled, especially when vasoactive drugs are used. The infusion volume and speed must be accurately controlled. During the infusion process, it is necessary to closely observe whether the infusion blood vessels are unobstructed, whether there is local fluid extravasation, infusion reactions, etc. At the same time, attention should also be paid to observing the child's consciousness, breathing, anterior fontanelle tension, pupil changes, and when symptoms of intracranial hypertension appear, take appropriate measures in a timely manner to prevent further increase in intracranial pressure and minimize neurological sequelae.

Treatment of convulsions: Neonatal hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy often causes convulsions, which can increase oxygen consumption in brain tissue and aggravate cerebral hypoxia and brain damage. Close attention should be paid to the precursors of convulsions, such as screaming, excitement, irritability, strabismus, increased muscle tension in the limbs, etc. This group found precursors of convulsions 33 times and gave anticonvulsant treatment in time, thus avoiding convulsion attacks.

Strictly implement disinfection, isolation and aseptic operation systems to prevent cross infection. Open windows for ventilation regularly every day, use electronic sterilization lamps for disinfection regularly, wipe the inside and outside of the incubator with disinfectant, soak hands with disinfectant and rinse with clean water before contacting the children, strengthen oral care, and keep the skin of the navel, buttocks and other parts clean and dry. These measures are beneficial to the recovery of children with damaged brain cells in newborns. Finally, I wish the children good health.
