Height of a one and a half year old child

Usually parents are very concerned about their baby's height after one and a half years old, and they are always worried that they will be shorter than their peers. This will cause abnormal height and affect the subsequent height development. Parents pay more attention to the height of boys in particular. In fact, height development is a very complicated process. The speed of height development at each stage is completely different and requires close observation.

The material basis of human height is bones. The three parts that are mainly related to height are the head, spine and long bones of the lower limbs.

Human physical development is a very complex process, which proceeds from top to bottom and from near to far. The head develops the earliest. At birth, the length of a newborn's head is 1/2 of that of an adult's head, and the length of a newborn's skull is 1/4 of its body length. In comparison, the lower limbs develop more slowly, and are only 1/4 of the size of adults at birth. Therefore, the development of the long bones of the lower limbs after birth has the greatest impact on height.

The changes in the proportions of various body parts from fetal development to adult development. Generally speaking, under normal circumstances, a person is about 50 cm tall at birth; within one year old, there is the first leap in height growth, which can grow to about 75 cm; at the age of 2, it grows to about 85 cm; from 3 to 7 years old, the height increases by 6 to 15 cm each year. Most people will grow to 155-160 cm by the time they are 11-12 years old. During this period, most people's heights did not differ much. However, with the onset of puberty, height, like all organs in the body, undergoes another leap.

Various conditions such as genetic factors, nutritional status and physical exercise lead to obvious differences in height between people. During this period, some people may grow 6 to 7 centimeters or even 10 to 13 centimeters taller each year. When entering junior high school, height growth is very obvious. Often within one or two years, an innocent and childish child will grow into a strong young man or a graceful and beautiful girl. After the age of 17 to 18, the rate of height growth slows down significantly until sexual maturity, which is when girls are 18 to 23 years old and boys are 22 to 25 years old, when a person's height is basically fixed.

During childhood and adolescence, measuring height 1 to 2 times a year (preferably once a quarter) is one of the important means to keep abreast of growth and development. Normal height growth indicates good growth and development; if height growth is slow, basically no growth, or even stops growing, the reasons should be analyzed and appropriate measures should be taken for targeted remedial measures.
