What to do if your child catches a cold in summer

Summer is very hot and people tend to sweat easily. At this time, many friends know that they must wipe the sweat off and then use a fan or air conditioner, otherwise it is easy to catch a cold. However, naughty and playful children may not always remember this problem, so many children are prone to catching colds in summer. Generally speaking, adults have a stronger ability to recover on their own from a cold, but children are weaker. So next I will introduce to you some tips on treating children’s summer colds.

A cold usually heals itself within 3-4 days. But this does not mean that there is no need for treatment. When the cold is severe, it can cause conjunctivitis, otitis media, and even sepsis. In addition, it can also be the cause of rheumatism, nephritis, myocarditis, and other allergic diseases. Therefore, some people say that colds are the source of all diseases and must be taken seriously and treated actively.

1. Let your child get enough rest, drink plenty of boiled water, eat easily digestible food: such as porridge, noodles, etc., and eat less fish and meat.

2. The room temperature and humidity should be appropriate. The air in the house needs to circulate.

3. For children with fever, if the temperature is lower than 38.5℃, physical cooling can be given, such as cold compress on the head and alcohol wipes. If the fever exceeds 38.5℃, medication should be given to reduce the fever at the same time. A comprehensive treatment approach can be adopted for treatment; some cold granules can be reused, combined with antiviral drugs, traditional Chinese medicine, etc. Because it is a viral infection, antibiotics are generally not used. However, it is best for parents to let the doctor diagnose the child first, formulate a treatment plan, and then take the medication according to the doctor's prescription.

The above content is about some treatment methods for children’s summer colds. Children with mild colds usually just have a runny nose and sneezing, but children with severe colds may have symptoms such as fever. Therefore, parents must pay attention to their children's condition. If your child has a cold and fever, it is best to use physical cooling methods and never take antipyretics randomly.
