The child's poop is too hard

The excess and unnecessary substances in the human body will be converted into feces and excreted from the body, and feces can reflect a person's gastrointestinal digestion and physical health to a certain extent. Most parents also know their baby’s health condition by observing their children’s stool, because children generally cannot accurately express their physical discomfort. So what is going on when a child’s poop is too hard?

1. Causes of dry and hard stools in children

Children have hard and dry stools because the large intestine absorbs excess water when digesting and absorbing nutrients from food, causing the stool to become dry and difficult to defecate, or simply constipation. It has a great impact on children's physical health. The main causes of constipation in children are the following three aspects: insufficient water intake; insufficient fiber intake; insufficient food intake. In addition to the above factors, there is also a loss of water in children's bodies due to external factors, such as exercise, hot weather, etc., which causes water to be excreted from the body and leads to insufficient water.

Treatment for hard stools

1. Treatment methods include supplementing nutrients. You cannot simply replace water absorption with fruit juice. Drinking a moderate amount of boiled water does not mean a decline in the quality of life, but is a necessary requirement for the body.

2. Whether it is mixed milk or fresh milk, it cannot replace the role of boiled water. Children cannot recognize the pain of constipation. Adults should pay enough attention to it and not indulge children based on their taste preferences.

3. Try to consume foods that are high in crude fiber and rich in water, such as celery, leafy vegetables, bananas, etc. Children prefer meat or refined foods, which are less irritating to the stomach and intestines and will gradually reduce intestinal motility and cause constipation.

4. Use physical means to massage the abdomen to promote intestinal peristalsis, which can accelerate constipation caused by dry stool. The massage needs to be gentle and last for a certain period of time.

5. Eat a reasonable diet, supplemented by physical massage, and develop a healthy and regular bowel habit. Not having a bowel movement for a long time will also cause repeated absorption of food residues, and the toxins produced by the feces in the intestines will also be absorbed by the intestines.

6. The last point to note is that if the symptoms do not improve after these adjustments, you must go to the hospital for examination to rule out the possibility of surgical disease.
