Symptoms of malnutrition in children, it turns out we have ignored them!

In the eyes of many people, only children who look short and thin are likely to be malnourished. In fact, some children look very fat, which may also be a sign of malnutrition. Therefore, many parents ignore their children's nutritional status.

1. Emotional changes.

A large amount of survey and research data from American pediatricians shows that when a baby is in a bad mood or has abnormal changes, it should be considered that there is a lack of certain nutrients in the body.

1) If your baby is depressed, slow to react, and has a numb expression, it indicates that the body lacks protein and iron. You should feed your baby more high-iron and high-protein foods such as seafood, meat, dairy products, livestock and poultry blood, and egg yolks.

2) If your baby is worried, frightened, insomniac and forgetful, it indicates that his body lacks B vitamins. At this time, it is very helpful to supplement his body with foods rich in B vitamins such as beans, animal liver, walnut kernels, potatoes, etc.

3) The baby's mood swings and temper tantrums are related to eating too much sweets, which is medically known as "sugar-craving dysphoria disorder." In addition to reducing sweets, it is also necessary to arrange more foods rich in B vitamins.

4) Babies are stubborn, timid and fearful, which is mostly caused by insufficient intake of vitamins A, B, C and calcium, so they should eat more animal liver, fish, shrimp, milk, vegetables, fruits and other foods.

2. Abnormal behavior.

Malnutrition can also cause abnormal baby behavior, which can be roughly summarized as follows:

1) Being unsociable, withdrawn, and clumsy are usually the result of vitamin C deficiency in the body. Adding foods rich in this vitamin, such as tomatoes, oranges, apples, cabbage and lettuce, to your diet is the best therapeutic food. These foods are rich in acids and vitamins, which can enhance the nerve information transmission function and relieve or eliminate the above symptoms.

2) The behavior is not commensurate with the age, and the baby is childish and ridiculous compared to babies of the same age, indicating a lack of amino acids in the body. It is imperative to increase the intake of high-protein foods such as lean meat, beans, milk, eggs, etc.

3) Teeth grinding, twitching of hands and feet, and easy awakening at night are often signs of calcium deficiency. Green vegetables, dairy products, fish floss, dried shrimps, etc. should be added in time.

4) The liking to eat foreign objects such as paper scraps and soil is called "pica". It is mostly related to the lack of trace elements such as iron, zinc and manganese. Kelp, fungus, mushrooms, etc. contain a lot of zinc. Poultry and seafood are high in zinc and manganese, and should be the ideal "meals on the plate" for these babies.

3. Excessive obesity.

In the past, obesity was often viewed in a general sense as overnutrition. The latest research shows that overnutrition is only the reason why some "fat kids" get fat. Another part of fat babies is caused by malnutrition. Specifically, it is caused by bad eating habits such as picky eating and partial eating, which lead to insufficient intake of certain "micronutrients". Insufficient "micronutrients" result in the body's fat not being metabolized normally as heat and dissipated, so it has to accumulate in the abdomen and under the skin, so the baby will naturally be overweight.

Therefore, for obese children, in addition to reducing the intake of high-fat foods (such as meat) and exercising more, they should also increase the variety of food and make a reasonable combination of coarse grains, fine grains, meat and vegetables.
