What to do if your child has anal fissure bleeding

Children love to move around and want to run outside every day. They are most energetic when they go out to play. Once they are asked to stay at home and read a book, they start to get upset. Since children’s daily routines are different from ours, they may have minor problems with their physical condition. Some children may see blood when they poop, which is most likely caused by anal fissure. What should I do if my child has anal fissure bleeding?

Many parents see blood when cleaning their baby's stool. They become very nervous and don't know what to do. If your baby has blood in his stool, it may be caused by anal fissure. As long as parents understand the cause of the baby's anal fissure, the baby will recover with symptomatic treatment.

Anal fissure is when the anus is stretched to create one or more small openings, causing bleeding. There are two reasons for anal fissures in babies: first, the baby's anus has fewer wrinkles and is relatively stiff locally. If the stool is dry and too much force is required during defecation, it is likely to cause a fissure. Second, young babies often have intestinal bloating, and the anus may be ruptured when they forcefully expel gas.

The reason why the anus of an adult has so many wrinkles is that they are gradually formed in the process of the anus being constantly stretched and contracted. Of course, the anus of some adults also forms the current wrinkles after being torn many times. After understanding the causes of anal fissure, we need symptomatic treatment to achieve the best results.

If your baby has colic and there is a lot of gas in the intestines, making it difficult to pass the gas, you can use some gas-relieving drugs to relieve the pain. For babies with dry stools, the stools need to be softened, which requires two conditions: one is that there must be enough bacteria in the intestines; the other is that there must be enough fiber. After bacteria break down cellulose into water and some short-chain fatty acids, it helps soften the stool.

After solving the above problems, anal fissure wound needs to be cared for. Parents can dilute a berberine tablet with 200-300ml of warm water, then use a clean towel to apply an appropriate amount of berberine water to hot compress the anus. During the application process, the anal skin will absorb the medicine and repair it from the inside out. It is recommended that parents apply the wound once a day for 15 minutes each time. Generally, the wound will recover after two weeks of continuous treatment.

Parents should be reminded that it is not recommended to apply antibiotic ointment when the baby has anal fissure, because the wound of anal fissure is three-dimensional, not a surface abrasion. Antibiotic ointment will only repair the surface skin, while the inside of the torn anus may not be treated. When bacteria grow inside, abscesses will form, causing more serious consequences.
