What to do if your newborn baby has mucus in his nose

1. 2. You may wish to use a small cotton swab, squeeze a little erythromycin ointment on the tip of the cotton swab, then gently insert the cotton swab tip with erythromycin into the newborn's nose, and evenly apply the erythromycin in both nostrils of the baby. Erythromycin can dilute the mucus in the newborn's nose. After the mucus is diluted, you can use a clean cotton swab to gently remove the mucus from the newborn's nose.

3. Put warm water in a spill-proof bottle for newborns. After the newborn falls asleep at night, turn the bottle upside down and when the water stops dripping, gently pinch the nipple a few times and drip the water into the lower edge of the newborn's nostrils.

4. Place a humidifier in the room to ensure the indoor humidity, especially in winter when the air is most prone to dryness. Or place a basin of clean water in the room at night. If the room has a floor, it is best to wipe it twice a day with a wet cloth to moisturize it. Then wash the newborn's face every night before going to bed, which can also moisturize the nostrils.
