How to treat children's sleepwalking at night

Sleepwalking is a very common psychological activity. Many children sleepwalk at night. The treatment of sleepwalking at night is actually very simple. The first thing to do is to analyze whether the child has been psychologically hurt recently, or because of excessive study pressure, irregular sleep, and family genetic factors, these are all factors that lead to sleepwalking at night.

What are the causes of sleepwalking?

1. Psychosocial factors Sleepwalking in some children is related to psychosocial factors. For example, disrupted daily life, environmental pressure, anxiety and fear; family discord, poor parent-child relationship, study stress and poor test scores are all related to the occurrence of sleepwalking.

2. Sleeping too deeply Since sleepwalking often occurs in the first 1/3 of deep sleep, various factors that deepen sleep, such as excessive fatigue during the day, lack of sleep due to staying up late for several consecutive days, taking sleeping pills before bed, etc., can induce the occurrence of sleepwalking.

3. Genetic factors: Family surveys show that most sleepwalking patients have a positive family history, and the comorbidity rate of monozygotic twins is 6 times higher than that of dizygotic twins, indicating that the disease is related to genetic factors.

Prevention of sleepwalking:

Sleepwalking has no adverse effects on children's health, but parents must pay attention to strengthen protection to prevent accidents. For example, dangerous items should not be placed in the room, fire should not be lit, doors and windows should be locked, etc. If a child with sleepwalking is found to have walked outside, parents can take the child back home, put him to bed, and let him continue sleeping. Do not forcibly wake up a child who is having a sleepwalking attack, because forcibly waking the child up may cause the child to become more seriously confused, excited and agitated.

Parents should prevent children from factors that may deepen their sleep, such as excessive fatigue during the day and excessive excitement before going to bed, so as not to induce the onset of sleepwalking.

As children age, the cerebral cortex gradually develops and perfects, and sleepwalking can be cured without treatment, so parents do not need to worry about it.
