What should I do if my baby eats plastic paper?

Plastic paper is a piece of paper that looks like layered plastic. It is waterproof and corrosion-resistant like plastic, has a certain toughness and is tear-resistant. It can often be used for the inner packaging of food to play a waterproof and moisture-proof role. Babies’ senses are often not well developed, and they like to use their mouths to perceive new things around them. There will be plastic paper in the packaging of snacks. What should you do if your baby accidentally eats the plastic paper?

If a baby accidentally ingests solid foreign objects such as plastic stickers or small toys, they will basically be excreted in the feces. Therefore, you need to observe your stool carefully and go to the emergency department for examination if you are worried. In addition, there are also cases where the drug blocks the trachea and causes breathing difficulties after ingestion. The key is not to get it on the respiratory tract surface.

Plastics are high molecular polymers, and their main components are: polyethylene (PE), polyvinyl chloride (PV), polypropylene (PP), and polystyrene resin (polyethylene is slightly white particles or powder, translucent, non-toxic and odorless, with good chemical stability and resistance to acid and alkali corrosion.).

There is only pepsin in the stomach, so plastic will not be digested in the stomach, nor will it be dissolved by stomach acid. It can only be excreted from the body along with feces. It will not cause any harm to the baby. It's like a layer of plastic film on top of an anti-counterfeit label. It's fine, but you can't recognize it when you pull it out.

When encountering this situation, mothers should not be too anxious. First of all, you have to calm your baby's emotions, because the baby is already very nervous at this time. If the mother lets the baby realize that you are more nervous than him, she will cry out of fear. When crying, foreign objects may choke your organs, and the consequences can be imagined.

Solution: Cut the leek in half, soak it in boiling water until it is 70% cooked, and let the baby chew it (a baby of 2 years and 4 months old can do this). If the child is older, the leek does not need to be cut. This is the experience we have already practiced in our work. Some babies may vomit after chewing. At this time, let the baby bend down and lower his head immediately, and the mother will help pat his back. The foreign body may be vomited out with the baby's vomit. Of course, if it is eaten into the stomach, the leek will drag the foreign body out together.

This situation is not a big deal, it can usually be excreted through the stool and will not be absorbed. Don't worry, just observe for the time being. However, it is recommended that you eat more bananas, vegetables and fruits to moisten the intestines and promote excretion.

If the plastic paper eaten by the baby does not get stuck in the throat and does not cause the baby to have breathing difficulties or shortness of breath, there is no need to worry too much. After the plastic paper is swallowed into the stomach, it will be digested and excreted from the body with feces. It will not have a big impact on the baby.
