Erythromycin ointment for diaper rash

Erythromycin ointment for diaper rash

Many babies use diapers when they are young. Diapers are made of many materials, including cotton and silk. Some babies may have sensitive skin and will have allergic reactions to unsuitable diapers. They may get diaper rash. Diaper rash is a common disease in newborn babies. It is caused by the infection of the baby's tender skin. So can erythromycin ointment be used for diaper rash?

The baby's skin is extremely delicate. If it is soaked in urine for a long time or is damp due to airtight diapers, small red rashes will often appear on the buttocks or the skin will become rough, which is called "diaper rash" or "red buttocks." Basically every baby will have this experience. You can apply comfrey oil to the baby, but it is not recommended to use erythromycin ointment which is too irritating. In addition, buttocks care is very important. Clean them in time after urination and defecation, and then use diaper cream. If you use diapers, change them frequently to keep the buttocks dry.

How to treat diaper rash

If your baby's diaper rash looks infected (has blisters, pus-filled areas, oozing yellow fluid, or ulcers), be sure to go to the hospital. Your doctor will prescribe topical (topical) or oral antibiotics for your baby.

(1) Apply 3ml-5ml of lithospermum oil drops evenly on the affected skin surface. 3-4 times a day, treatment course 7-10 days.

(2) Apply topical steroid drugs (such as mometasone furoate, pevisone, etc.) to the surface of the affected skin.

(3) Change diapers frequently and keep the bottom clean and dry.

(4) Clean your baby's diaper area thoroughly every time you change his diaper.

(5) Use an isolating ointment every time you change the diaper to protect your baby’s already uncomfortable skin from being eroded by feces and urine.

(6) When the weather is warm, if your baby can play outdoors or on an easily clean surface indoors, keep him out of diapers (and don’t use sunblock) for as long as possible. Direct contact with air will speed up the recovery of diaper rash.

How to care for diaper rash

(1) Pay attention to the careful care of your baby. If you find the diaper is wet, change it promptly and keep the area dry.

(2) When diaper rash appears, parents should take immediate action, first clean it, then apply some tannic acid ointment to the affected area. If erosion has occurred, 1% gentian violet can be used locally.

(3) When washing your baby’s buttocks, use warm water instead of soap to reduce local irritation.

(4) If your baby cries loudly when you use warm water to wash him, you can also try to let him sit in a basin of warm water to wash.

(5) To prevent the diaper from soaking the bedding, a small cotton pad or cloth pad can be placed under the diaper.
