White spots on baby's face

White spots on baby's face

Special attention should be paid to all matters when the baby is just born, because the immunity of newborns is relatively low, so they are prone to colds, allergies, infections, etc. For example, if white patches appear on the baby's face, many parents will first think of vitiligo. In fact, there is no need to worry too much. There are many types of skin diseases. Generally, most of the white patches on the baby's face are pityriasis alba, which will not have much impact on the baby. As follows:

Symptom Diagnosis:

1. Pityriasis alba, also known as simple pityriasis, is a dry, scaly, hypopigmented macules that is common in children and adolescents. Generally, this type of white pityriasis is a round or oval coin-sized white patch with a dry surface and a small amount of fine grayish-white scales.

Pityriasis alba mainly grows on the face, and occasionally on the neck, trunk, and limbs. There is no itching or pain, and the child will not feel any discomfort, and his spirit and appetite are normal.

2. Why does pityriasis alba develop? Pityriasis alba is usually caused by low immunity in children, or after some acute diseases such as colds and bronchitis.

3. The difference between pityriasis alba and vitiligo:

Vitiligo does not occur in a fixed location, but has clear boundaries, that is, it is a very obvious and different white patch. There is no scale on the surface.

In fact, there is no direct connection between pityriasis alba and parasitic diseases. In ancient times, sanitary conditions were relatively poor, and many children suffered from parasitic diseases and had relatively low immunity, so they were more likely to develop pityriasis alba. But in our time, there is no corresponding relationship between the two.

4. Treatment methods

Generally speaking, pityriasis alba is a self-limiting disease. To put it simply, it will heal on its own and does not require any special treatment. Parents should also avoid purchasing ointments and applying them on their own. Children’s facial skin is more fragile and misuse of ointments will aggravate the condition.

If pityriasis alba does not heal for a long time and parents are worried, they can also choose to apply 5% sulfur cream or 2.5% white mercury ointment. When it comes to skin care, do not choose soaps that are too alkaline. You can use some care creams containing silicone oil to protect your skin.
