How to clean earwax for a two-year-old baby

For adults, earwax removal is a simple matter. However, for children who are not very old, cleaning earwax for babies is a technical job. Earwax is not all bad. It can protect children's ears from foreign objects. Parents should not clean their children's ears frequently. So, how to clean the earwax of a two-year-old baby? Let’s take a look at the method below.

1. Do not insert anything into the ear to avoid puncturing the eardrum, even cotton swabs or fingers.

2. Add one or two drops of hydrogen peroxide, mineral oil, or glycerin, or other household remedies, to soften the earwax and allow excess liquid to flow out. Repeat this process for two or three days until the earwax softens and you can start flushing. Gently spray warm water into the ear canal, taking care not to let the water press on the ear canal. After the water flows out, use a hair dryer to dry it.

3. A few drops of alcohol can also help evaporate the moisture in the ear.

4. Do not clean your ears too often, once a month is enough, otherwise the protective layer in the ears will be washed away.

5. If you have ear blockage or hearing loss, you should seek medical attention immediately. If ear infection is not treated in time, it may cause permanent hearing loss.

Things to note when cleaning baby's earwax

1. Do not use hairpins, matchsticks, ear picks and other tools to clean your baby's earwax, and educate your baby not to clean his ears by himself.

2. When cleaning your baby's earwax, if the baby does not cooperate, struggles, or stimulates the external auditory canal to trigger a coughing reflex, it may hurt the baby's eardrum, so don't clean your baby's earwax casually.

3. Infants and young children need to go to the hospital regularly to clean earwax every 3 to 6 months. If earwax becomes hard and causes pain due to water in the ear or other reasons, you need to see an ENT doctor for help.

4. Pay attention to keeping the baby's external auditory canal dry to avoid earwax blockage. If there is external auditory canal inflammation, seek medical treatment in time.

5. When cleaning earwax for your baby, do not exceed 1/3 of the external auditory canal. Move as slowly and gently as possible, and prevent water from entering the ears within two or three days after cleaning the ears.
