Newborns have fragile and sensitive bodies and can easily become infected if not carefully monitored. Some mothers will find that the whites of their babies' eyes are a little yellowish shortly after birth. At this time, special attention should be paid, as this is a symptom of jaundice in babies. Generally, the face or whites of the eyes will have yellow characteristics, which are mostly born in newborns. As a mother, don’t worry too much. You can take some measures to reduce the jaundice. So what are some good methods to reduce the jaundice? Neonatal jaundice will generally disappear naturally after 7-10 days , but if jaundice does not disappear after two weeks and reappears, you should go to the hospital for examination. There are three types of jaundice. One is physiological, which will subside in about fifteen days. The second is pathological. This needs to be treated with medication. The third type is breast milk jaundice, which can be cured by stopping breastfeeding for three days. How to determine whether jaundice has subsided and how to eliminate jaundice: 1. Keep the room brightly lit and it is best not to check under light. 2. Press the child's skin with your hand. If it is white after you release it, it means the jaundice has subsided. If it is yellow, it means it still exists. 3. During the jaundice period, feed more warm water or glucose water for diuresis. No special treatment is required. 4. If jaundice appears early or late, or if any of the abnormal conditions mentioned above occur, the patient should be sent to the hospital for a systematic examination immediately. 5. Feeding boiled water and sun exposure more often can speed up the jaundice process. 6. All newborns have these symptoms, and some of them will fade away on their own over time. 7. If the condition is serious, you can buy some anti-jaundice medicine, give the baby some honeysuckle water, and the mother should also drink some. If you wipe the face with honeysuckle water, the baby will get better soon. As a baby's parents, you don't need to worry too much, as every newborn child will go through this period. I believe that with the advanced medical technology today, minor jaundice can definitely be cured. Taking good care of our baby is our greatest responsibility. I hope all the babies in the world can get through these jaundice days as soon as possible. Normal value of neonatal jaundice 17~51μmol/L (1~3mg/dl) gradually increases to 86μmol/L (5mg/dl) or above, clinically jaundice appears without other symptoms and disappears within 1~2 weeks. The serum bilirubin level of physiological jaundice should not exceed 204 μmol/L (12 mg/dl) for full-term infants and 255 μmol/L (15 mg/dl) for premature infants. However, some premature infants with serum bilirubin less than 204 μmol/L (12 mg/dl) may also develop bilirubin encephalopathy. We should be vigilant about physiological jaundice to prevent misdiagnosis or missed diagnosis of pathological jaundice. Clinical symptoms : 1. Physiological jaundice is light yellow in mild cases and is limited to the face and neck, or spreads to the trunk. The sclera may also be yellow. It will subside after 2 to 3 days, and the skin color will return to normal on the 5th to 6th day. In severe cases, the jaundice will spread to the head first and then the feet, and the vomitus and cerebrospinal fluid may also be yellow. It may last for more than 1 week, especially for some premature infants, which may last up to 4 weeks. Their stool is still yellow and there is no bilirubin in the urine. 2. The color of jaundice is light pink in mild cases and darker in severe cases, but the skin is rosy with red in yellow. 3. Jaundice is mostly seen on the trunk, sclera and proximal limbs, usually not exceeding the elbows and knees. 4. The newborn is in general good condition, has no anemia, no hepatosplenomegaly, normal liver function, and no kernicterus. 5. Physiological jaundice is more common in premature infants than in full-term infants, and may appear slightly later by 1 to 2 days. The jaundice is more severe and disappears later, which may last up to 2 to 4 weeks. |
