Male baby's genital head is red and swollen

The main difference between boys and girls is their reproductive organs. Many times, the baby's reproductive organs are very fragile. Because they are young and do not know how to protect their reproductive organs, they do not know how to report to their parents if there is any problem with their reproductive organs. Some male babies may have some redness and swelling on the head of their genitals. Let’s take a look at the reasons why the boy’s genital head becomes red and swollen.

Common redness and swelling of the male reproductive organs may be due to inflammation. Common male reproductive organ infections include the "five inflammations", namely orchitis, urethritis, prostatitis, non-bacterial prostatitis, and epididymitis.

1. Orchitis.

It is caused by various pathogenic bacteria and viruses infecting the blood, lymphatic vessels, vas deferens or epididymis, among which orchitis caused by mumps is the most common. Mumps is an acute infectious disease caused by a virus. Adults are prone to develop orchitis after suffering from mumps. In the acute phase, patients experience redness, swelling, pain and aching of the scrotal skin, with a noticeable feeling of heaviness when walking. If not treated properly in the acute stage, it may turn into chronic orchitis.

2. Urethritis.

Most of them are retrograde infections, that is, the bacteria directly invade the urethra. In the acute phase, patients may experience congestion and edema of the urethral mucosa, or the formation of erosion and ulcers, redness and swelling of the urethral orifice, mucous or purulent secretions, urethral tenderness and hardening; in severe cases, the epididymis and spermatic cord may be affected.

3. Prostatitis.

It is mostly caused by the direct spread of urethritis, or acute inflammation of other tissues and organs through blood and lymph infection. It is a common disease in young and middle-aged men. Acute prostatitis has an acute onset and is often manifested by general weakness, lower back pain, a feeling of discomfort and falling in the perineum and anus, accompanied by urinary pain, frequent urination, urgency and even hematuria. Some people also have decreased libido, premature ejaculation or impotence.

4. Non-bacterial prostatitis.

There are symptoms such as frequent urination, urgency, and sexual dysfunction, but laboratory tests cannot detect bacteria. It is mainly caused by excessive sexual activity, being in a state of sexual excitement for too long, or pelvic congestion due to cycling or horse riding.

5. Epididymitis.

It is caused by retrograde spread due to urethral stenosis, prostatic hyperplasia, urethritis, and infection with tuberculosis and gonorrhea. The epididymis is closely attached to the posterolateral side of the testicle and is composed of a winding epididymis duct. It plays an important role in promoting sperm maturation, storing sperm and absorbing dead sperm. Therefore, when there are lesions in both epididymis, infertility may occur. Symptoms in the acute phase include scrotal swelling and pain, which may involve the lower abdomen and thigh roots, making walking difficult. If the acute phase is not treated thoroughly, it may turn into chronic epididymitis, so the treatment must be thorough during the acute phase.
