What are the precautions for babies to eat sugar pills?

The so-called sugar pill is a vaccine, which is a drug for preventing polio. Babies are very sensitive to the polio virus. The incidence rate will gradually increase after the baby is four months old. So what precautions should be taken after the baby takes the sugar pill?

1. After 60 days, the baby can take the first polio sugar pill orally. The reaction after the vaccine is generally mild, and some babies may have mild diarrhea. If the baby is severely allergic to milk or cream, inform the vaccinating doctor, because the sugar pill is made of a vaccine with a cream candy core wrapped in it.

2. In order to make the vaccine work effectively and avoid killing the active vaccine virus, polio pills should be taken with cold boiled water (hot water is prohibited). In addition, because breast milk contains antibodies that reduce the effectiveness of live vaccines, babies are not allowed to eat breast milk or drink hot water or hot milk within half an hour before and after taking the pills.

3. If your baby is suffering from intestinal diseases (severe diarrhea), you should postpone taking sugar pills. The doctor should decide when to take the pills after examination. If your baby suffers from immunodeficiency disease or is receiving immunosuppressant treatment or other acute or chronic serious diseases, you should also postpone taking sugar pills.
