What should I do if my child doesn’t pay attention in class?

Parents are generally concerned about their children's learning in school. After all, their children's academic performance is closely related to their future. However, many children have poor self-control and therefore cannot concentrate on listening in class. Their attention is scattered, so their grades will be affected to a certain extent. So if the teacher tells the parents that the child is not paying attention in class, what should the parents do?

1. Cultivate good behavioral habits for children in terms of living habits. The approach to be taken is not to rush in with a storm, but to grasp the small things first. For example, require children to go to bed and get up on time; eat on time and not leave food in the bowl; put back the toys after use; do things carefully, otherwise start over... There is no education without details. But we don’t have to take care of all the little things. Instead, we should choose those “little things” that are of essential significance to the growth and character formation of children.

2. Things that children have never seen or heard of can attract children's attention with their unique charm. Therefore, children should be taken into nature to see exotic flowers and plants and peculiarly shaped buildings to cultivate their interest. Interest is the driving force for observation and concentration. It is necessary to help children determine the purpose and task of observation, because children like to look around, have a weak sense of purpose, cannot grasp the key points, and thus gain nothing. Therefore, parents should intentionally put forward some requirements and goals to their children, tell them the methods, and guide them to grasp the essence, start from the shallower to the deeper, and concentrate on their studies.

3. When children encounter difficulties and interference in their studies, or come across content that they are not interested in, it is not enough to rely on attention alone. It is necessary to consciously cultivate children's self-control ability so that their attention is subject to the purpose and tasks of the activity. Parents can cultivate their children's self-control by having them concentrate on one thing for a period of time, such as painting, practicing piano, practicing calligraphy, etc. Don't call it one thing now and that thing the next. It is best to have a fixed time and a fixed place for training so as to form a direction for mental activities.

4. When studying, you can also alternate between several subjects to reduce part of the burden on the brain, allowing both sides of the brain to rest in turn and delay the onset of fatigue.

Warm reminder: Children frequently squint, frown, wrinkle their noses, shrug, shake their heads, and make abnormal sounds in their throats, such as clearing the throat or dry coughing. A few children have the uncontrollable habit of swearing... If your child has one or some of the above symptoms, he or she may have multiple Tourette syndrome. If you encounter this problem, you should go to the hospital for timely treatment.
