What are the symptoms of cold in children?

Colds are very common clinically, and wind-cold colds are also a type of cold. Wind-cold colds in children also need to be taken very seriously. The symptoms of wind-cold colds in children are very obvious. Parents can identify them through the symptoms of their children's runny nose and sputum. At the same time, they should also pay attention to the care of colds.

1. Phlegm

If your baby coughs and has phlegm, and the phlegm is white and thin, it means it is a cough caused by cold. Many children do not know how to spit. Parents should let their children try to learn to spit more often. It will be much better after spitting out.

2. Runny nose

When children catch a cold, they usually have a runny nose. If the runny nose is clear, it usually means that it is a cold caused by wind and cold; if the runny nose is thick and a little yellow, it means that it is a cold caused by wind and heat. Sometimes, the nasal discharge starts out as clear and then turns into yellow, which means the child has inflammation.

3. Others

A cough caused by wind-cold will not cause sore throat, but just a dry cough without redness or swelling. If the throat hurts, with redness, swelling, and pain in swallowing, it means it is a cough caused by wind-heat. If the mouth is not dry after coughing, it means it is a cold; if the mouth is dry and the child always wants to drink water and feels thirsty, it means it is a cough caused by wind-heat. Generally speaking, a cough caused by wind-cold will cause a more obvious fear of cold and a higher body temperature, while a cough caused by wind-heat will not be so obviously afraid of cold, or will not cause any fear of cold at all. But children may not show any signs of this, so you should pay more attention to whether they are shivering. Children who have a cold cough do not sweat and do not sweat easily; but when they have a heat cough, they often sweat profusely.

4. If a child suffers from a cold and cough, he or she is most afraid of external stimulation. Once the airway feels itchy, he or she will have a violent cough. Therefore, the treatment of wind-cold cough is suitable for dispelling wind and cold, warming the lungs, resolving phlegm and relieving cough.
