Pinworms are a type of parasite that often lives in babies' large intestines. How do we determine if the baby has pinworms? It is quite obvious from the stool. If you look closely, you will find worms that look like white lines. Although it sounds a bit scary, parents must not take it lightly, as pinworms can cause great harm to children's growth. So, what are the symptoms of pinworms in the baby's anus? How to tell if your baby has pinworms 1. Check the anus of the child 1 to 3 hours after falling asleep. If there are worms crawling out, use tweezers to grab them and store them in a small bottle of alcohol. Because pinworms do not necessarily crawl out to lay eggs every night, continuous observation for 3 to 5 days is necessary. 2. Before defecation in the morning, wipe the skin around the anus with transparent tape and examine it under a low-power microscope for 3 consecutive times. The positive rate can reach 79.4%. This method is simple and suitable for use in censuses. 3. Place a cotton swab in physiological saline, squeeze it dry, and wipe the area around the anus. Then place the cotton swab in a test tube with saturated saline, shake it thoroughly to wash the eggs into the saline, and then float the eggs to collect them for microscopic examination. 4. Place the cotton swab in sterilized saline, wring it dry before use, wipe the area around the anus, mix well on a slide with 50% glycerol solution, and then examine under a microscope. You can also use the flat head of a toothpick to soak it in 50% glycerol or 1% sodium hydroxide solution, then use it to scrape the wrinkles around the anus. Scrape the scraped material with a coverslip, smear it on a slide, and drop 1 drop of 50% glycerol or 1% potassium hydroxide for microscopic examination. Symptoms of pinworms in babies 1. Pinworms burrow into the intestinal mucosa, and mechanical or chemical stimulation in the gastrointestinal tract can cause symptoms such as loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. 2. The metabolic products discharged by parasites in the body cause mental excitement, insomnia, and night terrors and finger biting in children. The most common symptoms of pica in children are those in patients with pinworm infection, such as eating lumps of earth, coal slag, and salt. 3. Caused by ectopic parasitism of pinworms, such as vaginitis, salpingitis, endometritis, etc. It can also invade the appendix and cause appendicitis or even peritonitis. 4. Children may experience itching around the anus or genitals at night, which affects their sleep and causes them to cry and become restless. Due to the extreme itching, scratching causes the skin around the anus to fall off, become congested, and cause rashes and eczema. Even induce suppurative sensuality. I hope parents will pay more attention to observing their children’s physical changes. If any of the above symptoms occur, they should be treated in a timely manner. |
