What should I do if my baby keeps coughing?

When the seasons change, the change of hot and cold air can easily cause babies to cough. The doctor said that the baby's cough is the body's self-repair response to external changes, and in many cases no treatment is needed. However, if the baby keeps coughing, it will make the mother very worried and anxious. Although the doctor says that cough does not require treatment, mothers can take care of their babies in daily life so that the baby's cough can get better as soon as possible.

If your baby keeps coughing, you can take care of him in the following aspects:

1. Do not abuse antibiotics

Cough relief is generally divided into two aspects: one is care. The second is to take medication. It is best for parents not to blindly give their children antibiotics, because the abuse of antibiotics is harmful to the baby. For cough caused by cold (without fever), parents can give their babies appropriate doses of cough syrups such as KeKe Children's Cough Syrup and 999 Cough Syrup to control the development of the cough.

2. Daily Processing

1. Raise your child’s head when sleeping at night.

2. Drinking more warm water can make the baby's phlegm thinner, relieve the tension of the respiratory mucosa, and promote coughing up phlegm. It is best to let your baby drink warm water, warm milk, rice soup, etc.

3. Steam cough relief method. If your child has a severe cough, you can have them inhale steam or hold them in a steam-filled bathroom for 5 minutes. The humid air can help clear mucus from the lungs and calm the cough.

4. Use a hot water bag to relieve cough. Fill a hot water bottle with hot water at about 40℃, wrap it with a thin towel, and then apply it to the child's back near the lungs. This can speed up the expel of cold and is especially effective for cough symptoms that appear in the early stages of colds.

3. Pat the back method

Young children generally do not spit, and even if the phlegm is coughed up, they will just swallow it into the stomach. Therefore, when a child coughs, adults can hold him/her up and gently pat his/her back with their empty palms, up and down, left and right.
