How to treat sinusitis in a 1.5-year-old baby

If a baby around one and a half years old suffers from sinusitis, it is very dangerous for the child and should be treated as soon as possible. Babies around one and a half years old do not have very good body resistance and are prone to catching colds, especially in the cold winter. Parents should pay special attention to adding or removing clothes for their babies and try to prevent them from catching colds. Even a child of one and a half years old should pay attention to the cleanliness of the oral and nasal cavities and avoid eating too sweet things. Here we will explain how serious sinusitis is for a one and a half year old baby.

If the nasal congestion is not severe and does not affect the child's eating and sleeping, parents do not need to intervene deliberately. It will usually heal in about 1 week to 10 days. If nasal congestion affects your child's eating, or causes him or her to breathe with his or her mouth open while sleeping, you should give your child some medicine to shrink the nasal mucosa. For example, you can use 0.5% furazolidone nasal drops, which can shrink the dilated blood vessels under the nasal mucosa and relieve nasal congestion.

When parents give their children nasal drops, they must be careful not to put the drops in both nostrils at the same time. They can first put the drops in the side with more severe nasal congestion, wait for about 5 minutes, and then put the drops in the other side. Only 1 drop each time is enough. If the blockage is caused by accumulation of nasal secretions, you can use a cotton swab to roll out the secretions; if the nasal secretions have formed lumps, you can use a cotton swab to push the lumps slightly deeper into the nasal cavity to stimulate a sneeze, and the secretions in the nose will often be discharged with the airflow; or you can use a cotton swab to gently pick out the nasal secretions and push them out.

In case of sinusitis, the mucous membrane swells and secretions increase, but the sinus cavities of young children are narrow, which often leads to poor drainage. The accumulation of secretions in the sinuses can also cause children to have headaches, and even symptoms of general discomfort such as fever and poor appetite. Some children may also experience facial swelling and tenderness in the sinus area. In severe cases, the disease may spread to surrounding tissues, causing otitis media, neuritis, etc.

When a child is one and a half years old, some adults may let the child rest in bed every day and not take the child out for activities because the child is very young. This practice is extremely wrong. Even very young children should do more activities. Only through activities can children become more adaptable to the environment and have better immunity.
