How can children recover quickly from rubella?

Rubella is clinically classified as a type of skin disease. The main symptom is the appearance of red spots on the skin, which sometimes even cause itching. Of course, this disease may also occur in children. Due to their poor resistance, they often suffer from high fever and headache, which makes them very painful. So, how can children recover quickly from rubella? How effective are conventional treatments?

How to treat rubella

Because the symptoms of this disease are mostly mild and the prognosis is generally good, special prevention does not seem to be needed. However, congenital rubella is very harmful and can cause stillbirth, premature birth or multiple congenital malformations. Therefore, prevention should focus on congenital rubella.

1. General symptomatic treatment

Rubella patients generally have mild symptoms and do not require special treatment, mainly symptomatic treatment. Those with more pronounced symptoms should rest in bed and eat liquid or semi-liquid food. Symptomatic treatment can be given to patients with high fever, headache, cough, and conjunctivitis.

2. Treatment of complications

Patients with high fever, drowsiness, coma, and convulsions should be treated according to the principles of epidemic encephalitis B. For patients with severe bleeding tendency, adrenal cortex hormones can be used for treatment and fresh whole blood transfusion can be performed if necessary.

3. Congenital rubella

Asymptomatic infected persons do not require special treatment, but should be followed up to detect delayed defects in a timely manner.

Those with severe symptoms should be treated accordingly: those with obvious bleeding may consider intravenous immunoglobulin and blood transfusion if necessary. The principles of treatment for pneumonia, respiratory distress, jaundice, heart valve malformations, retinopathy, etc. are the same as those for other neonates.

Patients with congestive heart failure and glaucoma need active treatment, and treatment of cataracts is best delayed until after the age of 1 year. Auditory brainstem evoked potential examinations should be performed early and regularly to diagnose deafness early and intervene in a timely manner.
