Causes and treatment of bruxism in children

Causes and treatment of bruxism in children

There are many reasons for children to grind their teeth. It may be due to intestinal parasites, lack of calcium, nervous tension, etc. These reasons are all symptoms of children's teeth grinding. We should treat it according to the cause of the disease. To treat bruxism in children, we must first adjust the child's schedule, let the child relax, and pay attention to the child's oral hygiene.

1. Intestinal parasites

The presence of parasites in a child's intestines can cause stomach pain and nighttime teeth grinding. Coping strategies: If you find your child showing the above symptoms, you should take your child to the hospital for deworming in time and teach your child to maintain good hygiene habits.

2. Lack of calcium

Lack of sufficient calcium in children's bodies can also cause symptoms of nocturnal bruxism. Coping strategy: Supplement children with vitamin D and calcium to promote calcium absorption and prevent nocturnal bruxism.

3. Snacking at night

Children like to eat snacks before going to bed at night. This not only easily induces tooth decay, but also causes the children's stomach to digest continuously at night, causing bruxism. Coping strategy: Don’t let your children develop the habit of eating snacks before going to bed.

4. Too excited

If a child's nerves are too excited at night, it will stimulate the cerebral cortex and induce nocturnal bruxism. Coping strategies: Parents should avoid their children being overly excited at night to prevent teeth grinding.

5. Misaligned teeth

Misaligned teeth in children can easily cause incoordination of the oral chewing muscles, thereby inducing nocturnal bruxism. Coping strategy: Take your child for regular oral examinations and correct any crooked teeth in a timely manner.
