It may be difficult to detect white spots on babies because their skin is naturally white. If parents do not observe carefully, it will be difficult to detect. There are many reasons for white spots on babies, but in most cases they are caused by vitiligo. Vitiligo is mainly a genetic disease. If a child develops vitiligo, he or she should be treated as soon as possible. Infantile vitiligo is an acquired localized or generalized skin depigmentation disorder. It is a common skin disease that affects beauty. It is easy to diagnose but difficult to treat. In medicine, this lesion is usually called depigmentation. According to experts, this disease occurs all over the world, with the highest incidence in India. About 10,000 people are infected in my country. It can affect all races, and there is no significant difference in the incidence between men and women. Characteristics of vitiligo in infants 1. Disease condition : The earliest onset of vitiligo in infants is at birth. Those who develop the disease before the age of 10 account for about 15% of the total number of vitiligo patients. There are significantly more female children than male children. 2. Location of skin lesions : About 50% of the lesions of infantile vitiligo are located on the head and neck, about 28% on the lower limbs, about 18% on the trunk, and about 6% on the perineum. The first sites discovered are often the external genitalia and perianal area. The initial skin lesions are often located at the knees, elbows, forearms, hands, heels and other areas susceptible to trauma. 3. Distribution of skin lesions : In infants, generalized lesions account for 33% to 42% of the total number of children with the disease, those distributed in dermatomes account for 17% to 9%, and those localized and sporadic account for 30% to 50%. There is evidence that about 41.3% of children with stage-type vitiligo are younger than 10 years old. 4. Changes in the condition : The age at which skin lesions first occur has little impact on the condition of vitiligo. Since infants with vitiligo are mostly in a stable stage of illness than adults, the condition of most children with segmental vitiligo can be relatively stable one year after the onset of the disease. Causes of vitiligo in infants 1. Genetic factors : Vitiligo can be inherited and has a certain probability of inheritance. Medical reports have shown that both monozygotic twins have developed the disease, which shows that vitiligo may be a disease controlled by an autosomal dominant gene. If a baby develops vitiligo at birth, it is likely to be closely related to genetic factors. The probability of inheriting vitiligo is much lower than other genetic diseases, but genetic factors causing the disease in infants still need to be taken seriously. 2. Agricultural pollution Excessive use of chemical drugs on crops, such as pesticides, fungicides and ripening agents, and excessive feeding of growth hormones to meat poultry will result in residues in the body after slaughter, which will have adverse effects on human health. 3. Sun exposure : Babies' skin is relatively delicate, and excessive exposure to the sun will cause vitiligo. Excessive ultraviolet radiation accelerates the excessive consumption of melanocytes, leading to early decline of melanocytes, the appearance of white spots on the skin, and the formation of vitiligo in babies. |
