How to treat dampness in children

I believe everyone is familiar with dampness. Many people suffer from dampness in their bodies to varying degrees, regardless of gender, age or status. The main manifestations of dampness in the baby's body are loss of appetite, gastrointestinal discomfort causing indigestion, and sticky stools. So how to regulate moisture in children’s bodies? Such as: massage or through dietary adjustment. This article specifically introduces how to regulate the problem of moisture in children's bodies.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the spleen has the function of "transporting and transforming water and dampness". If one is weak and has poor digestion or if one overeats and eats too much greasy food and sweets, the spleen will not be able to "transport and transform" normally, causing "water and dampness to stagnate inside the body". People with spleen deficiency are also prone to invasion of external dampness, which often blocks the spleen and stomach and causes dampness to be generated from the inside. Therefore, the two are both independent and related. So what should we do if the baby has too much moisture?

Continuous rainy days are the period when various microorganisms such as molds and mites reproduce most rampantly. Some people with qi deficiency and excessive phlegm are more likely to develop asthma. The humidity increases in spring, which is a high-incidence season for children to get sick. Most of the diseases that children suffer from are respiratory tract infections, including colds, tonsillitis, bronchitis, pneumonia, abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhea, etc. In addition, children's excessive consumption of fruits, eating foods that are easy to mold or not paying attention to reasonable nutritional combinations are the main causes of "wetness" diseases in children.

There are good remedies to deal with dampness, and you can start from the following aspects - ventilate frequently and dehumidify more. Get rid of external moisture, do not stay in a humid place for a long time, and try not to work in humid places outside. Don't open windows often when it's humid or rainy, but it's best to keep the room ventilated. Pay attention to indoor ventilation and dehumidification. Even if clothes are difficult to dry, don't force yourself to wear wet clothes. Keep warm and avoid catching cold.

Exercise can promote the circulation of moisture in the body and achieve the effect of eliminating moisture. Because children like to jump around and sweat a lot, this helps to remove moisture.

Prevention of dampness starts with changes in lifestyle habits. In terms of diet, children should eat less cold food, sweets, drink less alcohol, eat less greasy food, and eat more warm food to reduce the source of dampness. When adults cook, they can put some ginger slices appropriately. Ginger is a warm food that has the effect of dispelling cold and reducing phlegm. They can also eat some chayote, papaya, winter melon, bitter melon, and red beans, which are very helpful in preventing dampness.

Dampness in the spleen and stomach can easily cause allergies, dampness can obstruct the spleen and stomach, and affect the digestion and absorption of the spleen and stomach. At this time, you should eat less damp seafood such as shrimps and crabs. Moreover, these high-protein foods are difficult to digest, and eating too much will increase the burden on the spleen and stomach.

The last point is that humid and hot weather is prone to breeding bacteria. We must pay attention to children’s daily dietary hygiene and not eat moldy food. Fruits must be washed and disinfected before eating. Seasonal fresh fruits such as bayberry and peaches should be eaten in moderation. Do not overeat or eat too cold food. Eat more spleen and stomach-strengthening and dampness-removing foods, and warm them appropriately to allow moisture to be discharged with urine and feces.
