What are the home care methods for children with stye

Stye is a type of eye disease, and the name of this disease is a traditional Chinese medicine disease. The incidence of this eye disease is relatively high, and most of the patients are children. It is usually caused by internal heat, external toxins or inflammation. When a child gets stye, the eye will usually become inflamed or pus will come out. At this time, parents must handle it correctly. If the condition is mild and parents know how to deal with it, they can handle it at home and pay attention to care. If the condition is serious, they need to go to the hospital for treatment in time. For parents who do not understand stye, it is best not to use medication indiscriminately. The correct approach is to seek medical attention in a timely manner to avoid delaying the treatment and causing the condition to worsen further.

Stye can also be relieved through some home care methods: the following methods can be used when the stye first appears.

1. Home care method for stye:

You can use a thread to prick the base of the middle finger on the opposite side of the child's affected eye. That is, when the child's right eye is affected, prick the base of the index finger of the left hand, and if the left eye is affected, prick the right hand. Note that the thread should not be too tight to avoid affecting the blood circulation of the child's fingers.

2. Home care method for stye 2:

Apply eye ointment or eye drops to the affected area.

3. Home care method for stye:

If the child's stye symptoms are severe, parents are advised to wait until the stye abscess matures and small abscesses rupture on their own and then wipe off the pus with sterilized gauze; large abscesses require incision and drainage in the hospital. After the pus comes out, apply antibiotic eye drops or eye ointment. Only with timely treatment can you recover as soon as possible.

4. Home care method for stye 4:

If the child cooperates well, warm water and hot compress treatment can also be used. Hot compress can dilate blood vessels, improve local blood circulation, and is very helpful in promoting the absorption of inflammation and shortening the course of the disease. The specific method is to soak a clean towel in hot water, wring it out slightly, and apply it directly to the skin of the affected eye, 2-3 times a day, each time for 20-30 minutes. The temperature of the hot towel is about 45 degrees Celsius. Parents can first test the temperature with the back of their hands or their own eyelid skin to see if the child can accept it.

5. Notes

If the stye is not treated in time, in addition to local redness and swelling, there will be systemic symptoms such as fever and fatigue. Antibiotics should be added. For styes that have already developed pus heads, the abscess can be mature and then incised and drained.
