How to treat chickenpox in children

Almost everyone will experience chickenpox at one time. When you get chickenpox, you should pay attention to conditioning and health care, and isolate yourself in time, especially in the first few days when the symptoms are relatively obvious. You should pay more attention at this time. Of course, under normal circumstances, chickenpox is highly self-limiting, and it will not cause some sequelae after the chickenpox is over. Because the main group of patients are infants and young children, parents must take good care of their children. After the illness, the children will gain lifelong immunity, but you must also understand that many years later, shingles may occur when the immunity is poor. If the child's condition is more serious, timely treatment should be sought. The effects of Western and Chinese medicine treatments are both good.

1. Children receiving Western medicine treatment should be isolated early until all rashes have scabs over. Children who have been in contact with chickenpox should be isolated and observed for 3 weeks. There is no specific treatment for this disease. The main treatment is symptomatic treatment to prevent secondary skin infection, keep it clean and avoid itching. Strengthen care to prevent secondary infection. Actively isolate patients to prevent infection. For those with low immunity, intramuscular injection of immunoglobulin 3 ml/day can be given for 3 consecutive days. Isolate early until the rash is completely crusted and dry. Local treatment is mainly to relieve itching and prevent infection. Gentian violet solution can be applied externally, and antibiotic ointment can be used externally for secondary infection. Antibiotics can be used when the systemic symptoms of secondary infection are severe. Avoid using corticosteroids to prevent the spread and aggravation of chickenpox.

2. Treatment according to TCM syndrome differentiation: For wind-heat type, use Yinqiao Powder with modifications: 15 grams of honeysuckle, 15 grams of forsythia, 12 grams of burdock fruit, 10 grams of mint, 10 grams of platycodon, 6 grams of schizonepeta, 6 grams of bamboo leaves, 20 grams of fresh imperata root, 15 grams of viola yedoensis, 15 grams of isatis root, and 6 grams of liquorice. Decoction in water, 1 dose per day. If the dampness is more severe, add talcum powder, Akebia trifoliata and other diuretics; if there is red halo around the rash, add Cortex Moutan, Paeonia lactiflora, etc.; if the skin is severely itchy, add cicada shell, Bombyx batryticatus, etc.

Children with chickenpox do not need special treatment

Varicella is an acute infectious disease caused by the varicella virus. It is mainly transmitted through respiratory droplets, and the entire illness lasts about two weeks. Chickenpox is highly contagious, and is most common in preschool children. A single infection provides lifelong immunity.
