What factors affect children’s vision development?

With the popularity of mobile phones and computers, many children start using these electronic products from a very young age, and many children start wearing glasses at a young age. Poor vision is very difficult to treat, so we must start paying attention to it when children are young. Therefore, it is very necessary for mothers to understand what factors can affect the development of children's vision, and pay attention to multiple aspects. There are still many factors that can affect the development of children's vision, such as disease, or the lack of certain elements in the body. Different causes have different solutions. Next, I will introduce you to several common factors.

1. Disease:

A considerable number of patients have suffered from infectious diseases such as measles and whooping cough. Most of these children have enlarged eyeballs. When the eyeballs are in an enlarged state, the refractive power of the eyeballs decreases and the vision weakens.

2. Noise:

Research by relevant experts shows that when the sound intensity is above 90 decibels, the sensitivity of the rod cells in the retina of the fundus to distinguish light brightness begins to decrease, and the time to identify weak light reaction is prolonged. When it exceeds 45 decibels, 40% of people's pupils dilate. When it reaches 115 decibels, the eye's adaptability to light brightness decreases by 20%, accompanied by a weakening of color vision ability.

3. Insufficient mineral elements:

Medical research shows that mineral elements such as calcium and chromium are an important condition for ensuring normal vision in children. Calcium plays an irreplaceable role in maintaining normal pressure in the lens of the eye, and chromium plays an irreplaceable role in maintaining the refractive power of the eye. It is particularly important to note that rice and noodles that are processed too finely will lose 80% of the chromium. Eating some coarse grains intentionally is beneficial to vision health.

4. Eating too many sweets:

Sweets are acidic foods. On the one hand, they consume a large amount of calcium in the body. On the other hand, they increase blood sugar and change the osmotic pressure of the lens, which is another root cause of myopia. It is better to supervise children to eat less sweets.

5. Passive smoking :

German experts have discovered that tobacco contains a highly toxic cyanide, which can cause toxic amblyopia when it accumulates to a certain level in the human body. Children's eyes are still in the development stage and are more sensitive to harmful substances in tobacco.

6. Lack of sleep:

10-13 years old is the peak period for myopia formation. If children of this age group do not get enough sleep, the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous functions will lose balance, causing the regulatory function of the ciliary muscles to be disordered. Therefore, ensuring 9-11 hours of sleep every night can protect eyesight.

7. Electronic game consoles :

Electronic game consoles have a significant impact on eyesight. The flickering images on the fluorescent screen increase the burden on the eyes, forcing the ciliary muscles to be highly tense, causing the lens to over-bend and increase the refractive power. Over time, this can lead to ciliary muscle spasm, which is also a major cause of myopia.
