How to prevent herpetic pharyngitis in children?

Herpetic stomatitis is caused by the herpes simplex virus, which occurs more frequently in winter. It is transmitted by droplets and direct contact and can affect the gums, buccal mucosa, and skin around the lips. Herpetic pharyngitis is a disease caused by the herpes simplex virus. The incidence rate is relatively high in winter. It can be transmitted through saliva or direct contact, which is quite harmful to children. As a baby, you should take active precautions in winter. You should do a good job of indoor air ventilation at home. In addition, you should keep your baby in good oral hygiene, pay attention to diet and health, and improve your child's immunity.

1. Careful care is the most important

Like other viral infections, herpangina is a self-limiting disease and there is no specific antiviral drug, so home care is particularly important. Children without comorbidities can be treated and cared for at home.

2. General care

Rest and keep the room well ventilated.

3. Symptomatic care

For fever: use physical and medicinal methods to reduce fever, and pay attention to hydration.

For the oral cavity: You can rinse your mouth with warm or cold water or light salt water. For small ulcers after blisters in the mouth burst, appropriate drugs can be used to protect the wound surface and promote ulcer healing.

4. Diet care

During the illness, the child's digestive function is weakened, so they should be given easily digestible and nutritious food. During the period when the blisters in the mouth break into small ulcers, try to give more warm and cool liquid food to avoid dehydration, electrolyte imbalance, etc. During the illness, you can add more fresh fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin B2 and vitamin C to your diet. After recovery, you can promptly supplement with some foods rich in protein and vitamins.

5. Regarding the issue of infection

The condition of herpetic pharyngitis is relatively mild, and the country has not included it in the infectious disease prevention and control law. Even if all symptomatic children are prohibited from going to school, group infection cannot be controlled because in a group, asymptomatic infected people are often the main source of infection. Although children will still excrete the virus through saliva, feces, etc. after the symptoms disappear, it is currently believed that there should be no major problems for children to return to school after the symptoms disappear.

To put it another way, parents need to accept the fact that when sending their children to nurseries and kindergartens, they will inevitably encounter various common pathogens, whether it is latent infection or infection (common diseases are generally not serious). Just think of it as immunization, and the child's immune function will gradually improve in the "struggle" with pathogens.
