What causes low muscle tone in children?

Many people don’t know what muscle tone is. In fact, it is very easy to understand. It is the force generated by the mutual attraction of human cells. The muscle tone of the human body must be maintained at a normal level to ensure normal human activities. If a child’s muscle tone is low, many abnormal symptoms will appear, such as obviously weak physical strength. So what causes children’s low muscle tone?

First, there are two reasons why children have low muscle tension

The first is congenital genetic malnutrition, which leads to reduced muscle tone after birth, joint contracture, mental retardation, and involvement of facial muscles, resulting in a unique diseased appearance. Tendon reflexes are weakened or disappeared, creatine phosphokinase in the blood is elevated, and muscle biopsy shows shedding of muscle fiber cells and hyperplasia of connective tissue.

Duchene type and malnutrition are related to sex chromosomes. The incidence rate in males is relatively rare. The disease occurs before the age of three. The patients are characterized by low muscle tone, delayed motor development, and mental retardation. Myogenic muscular atrophy and pseudohypertrophy may also be seen. Electromyographic examination showed increased myoelectric potential and high-frequency discharge.

Chronic leukodystrophy is an autosomal recessive genetic disease of lipase metabolism disorder. This disease will cause intellectual impairment and further worsening of symptoms, including decreased response to the environment, loss of language ability, screaming, increased muscle tone of the limbs, decreased muscle tone of the trunk and neck, hyperreflexia of the tendons, and slow pupil reflex to light, and inability to inject.

Second, what to do if children have low muscle tension

It is mostly caused by congenital deficiency, which refers to insufficient kidney qi, and can be regulated with Liuwei Dihuang Pills + calcium supplements. Because Liuwei Dihuang Pills are neither dry nor greasy and can be taken for a long time, they are a commonly used prescription for tonifying the kidneys. Can be taken at 1/4 of the adult dose. The daily intake of calcium supplement is between 200 and 300 mg. It can be used for two months in a row and then discontinued for half a year. Then make appropriate supplements according to the situation.

You can also use acupuncture, massage, medication and other treatments, combined with rehabilitation training. Be sure to persist in rehabilitation treatment and avoid strenuous exercise. Physical therapy: Improve motor function and enhance the ability to take care of oneself by increasing joint mobility, adjusting muscle tension, and improving motor control, coordination, strength and endurance. Commonly used techniques include: postural therapy, soft tissue stretching, muscle tension adjustment techniques, functional active activity strengthening training, muscle strength and endurance training, balance and coordination control, physical factor-assisted therapy (physical therapy), etc.

In addition, you can pay attention to conditioning your diet. You can choose more foods that nourish the kidneys and brain, benefit the liver and spleen, nourish the heart and blood, strengthen the tendons and bones, such as longan meat, peanuts, sesame seeds, black beans, walnuts, chestnuts, walnut kernels, pig kidneys, beef spinal cord, etc. It is usually better to eat small meals.

Third, matters needing attention

The diet for children with cerebral palsy should not contain irritating and overly greasy foods; the food should be cooked in a way that it is deliciously seasoned, beautiful in appearance, and fragrant, so as to stimulate the food center of children with cerebral palsy, induce gastric juice secretion, and enhance appetite.

Birth trauma is also one of the causes, brachial plexus paralysis, low muscle tone, passive hyperactivity, and low muscle strength. Because the baby's fontanelle and cranial suture have not yet closed, the high pressure can be relieved by opening the fontanelle and bulging the fontanelle to reduce the symptoms of increased intracranial pressure.
