How to do family rehabilitation training for children with cerebral palsy

Cerebral palsy in children is a relatively common disease and is very harmful to children. When cerebral palsy occurs, parents must accompany their children for home rehabilitation training in a timely manner. Because children are young and have strong plasticity, rehabilitation training at this time will achieve better results. This will also help children gradually recover and avoid greater impact on their future lives.

1. The home should be clean, tidy and safe.

2. The family should have a physical and mental environment suitable for rehabilitation training of mentally retarded children.

1) To create a harmonious and pleasant atmosphere for children, avoid quarrels and disharmonious family stories, which can easily make children become impulsive, irritable, rude, suspicious, silent, etc.

2) Let children talk more. Parents should avoid the situation where they do not have time to talk to their children due to introverted personality or busy work, which makes their children lonely and helpless for a long time. Children will develop many maladjustments and bad behaviors.

3) Avoid scolding your child. Some parents become impatient and loudly scold their children when they encounter setbacks in training their children, causing them to develop a negative psychological state of fear and fear of learning, which will ultimately affect the results of the training.

4) Over-indulgence. An indulgent family is neither true love nor a good physical and mental environment. For example: the child has grown up, but the mother still holds him in her arms. The parents continue to feed, dress and comb his hair for a long time after the child is able to take care of himself. Parents are afraid that their children will be bullied when they go out to play, so they restrict their children’s contact with other children. These overprotective methods will make children develop a dependent character on their parents. They will encounter obstacles everywhere in interpersonal communication and social life. Children themselves are poorly adapted to the environment, and the seemingly "protective" approach of parents can only encourage children's dependence on others.

3. Family members should have consistent attitudes during family rehabilitation training.

First of all, the elders (father, mother, grandmother, grandfather, grandfather, grandmother, etc.) should have a consistent attitude towards training children. Children's age characteristics and their special physical and mental features determine their slow ability to learn. If parents have inconsistent attitudes towards children, they will be at a loss. If parents' opinions are not consistent, the demands of both parties will be weakened or offset. In the long run, the child will behave differently in front of different parents. Once this bad habit is formed, it will reduce the rehabilitation effect.

4. Parents’ requirements for their children should be consistent. They can’t be different every day. What they say today may not count tomorrow. For example, some parents ask their children to eat by themselves today, but when they see that they have difficulty eating by themselves the next day, they say, "Forget it, I'll feed you!"

5. Family rehabilitation training should be coordinated with rehabilitation institutions .

6. Parents should attach great importance to cultivating good habits in their children.

Good behavioral habits can make a child's life successful, while bad behavioral habits will ruin his life. Cultivating habits from a young age is difficult and time-consuming, but it is something that must be done. A person's habits are formed slowly, and it requires a process.

7. Provide children with opportunities for group activities.
