What to do if your newborn baby has dry lips

The weather will become particularly dry in autumn and winter, so some babies' skin or lips will show varying degrees of dryness and peeling symptoms. However, since the babies are not aware of it, they will subconsciously lick the skin. So what should we do?

1. If the baby's dry lips start from the corners of the mouth, it may be due to a lack of necessary vitamins. Parents should arrange the baby's diet reasonably and ensure a balanced nutrition. Let your baby eat more vegetables, fruits and melons to supplement vitamins.

2. Provide your baby with enough water in daily life. Dry lips are a sign that the body lacks water. Let your baby develop a good habit of drinking water on time, and pay attention to cleaning the baby's mouth with clean water regularly.

3. Massage your baby's lips regularly to help blood circulation in the mouth, so that the lips can get enough nutrition and the lips will not dry out easily. Every night before going to bed, use a cotton swab to dip some honey on your baby's lips and gently massage with your fingers.

4. If your baby's lips are severely dry, try not to let your baby's lips come into contact with water. If your lips start to peel, it is best not to brush your teeth during this period. You can use chewing gum or dental floss instead.

5. Many parents apply lip balm to their babies when their lips are dry, which is incorrect. Lip balm is best used when the lips are healthy, as it has a better effect on moisturizing the lips. If the lips are already peeling, do not continue to use lip balm.
