1. Phimosis in children refers to a condition in which the foreskin is too long and the foreskin opening is narrow, so that the foreskin cannot be turned up and the glans cannot be exposed. It should be noted that phimosis in children will directly affect the normal development of the child's penis and increase the chance of infection from various inflammatory diseases. You need to take your child to the hospital for examination and treatment as early as possible.

2. Phimosis in children is caused by the small foreskin opening, which cannot be turned up to expose the glans penis (glans). All boys have phimosis when they are born, but after 3 to 4 years old, about 90% of children's phimosis will disappear on its own. If phimosis does not disappear on its own after the age of 3 to 4 years old, it is easy for secretions that are normally imperceptible to accumulate between the glans and the foreskin, forming smegma. Some children may develop inflammation due to smegma, resulting in redness and swelling of the foreskin, pain, painful urination, and even pus discharge. Due to phimosis, some children may have difficulty urinating and even affect the development of the glans and penis.

3. Most children with phimosis require surgical treatment, which is usually performed before entering elementary school: circumcision or circumcision ligation (there is currently no better surgical method than this). There will be a period of edema after circumcision. The duration of edema varies from child to child, but is usually measured in months. Some children may even develop lymphatic edema that is difficult to disappear. The wound may also have secondary bleeding and infection. In very few children, the glans can be exposed at the beginning after surgery, but the circumcision scar may become narrower and the foreskin cannot be turned up. The glans cannot be exposed again and another surgery may be needed.
