There are two main types of phimosis in children. The first is congenital, and the second is caused by acquired factors. These two categories have many subdivisions. Here we remind parents that because the causes are different, the solutions are different, so the real cause must be found first. 1. Phimosis refers to a condition in which the foreskin opening is narrow and cannot be turned up to expose the glans penis. Phimosis is divided into congenital phimosis and acquired phimosis. The mild epithelial adhesion between the inner layer of the foreskin and the surface of the glans penis is absorbed, the foreskin retracts, and the glans penis is exposed. If the adhesion is not absorbed, congenital phimosis will form. Acquired phimosis is often secondary to inflammation of the foreskin of the glans penis, causing scar contracture of the foreskin opening. 2. Experts say that phimosis refers to a condition in which the foreskin opening is too narrow to be turned up with artificial foreskin. Phimosis means that the foreskin covers the entire glans penis, while the foreskin opening is not small and can be turned up to reveal the glans penis. Phimosis has both physiological and pathological aspects. If you want to get rid of the trouble of phimosis, it is recommended to go to a regular hospital for examination and then analyze the specific situation. Normally, from newborns to infants under three years old, there is epithelial adhesion between the inner surface of the foreskin and the surface of the glans penis, which prevents the foreskin from being turned over to the coronal sulcus. This is called physiological phimosis. In most children, it can disappear naturally. As the glans penis develops and the penis becomes erect, the foreskin can be turned up to reveal the glans penis. When the foreskin cannot be turned up to expose the glans penis in a child over three years old, it is called true phimosis. 3. The foreskin opening of children with true phimosis is very small, sometimes as small as a pinhole, which hinders the development of the penis and even causes difficulty in urination. Due to the slow urine flow, bulging foreskin and urine retention, smegma is easily formed, and even inflammation, ulceration, and stones of the glans penis may occur. The method to determine phimosis is: apply soap on the penis to lubricate the foreskin inside and outside, fix the penis with your left hand, push the foreskin back and flip it with your right hand. If the foreskin can be turned up smoothly, it is foreskin that is too long; if the foreskin opening is too small to be turned up, it is phimosis. Phimosis can be divided into pathological and physiological types. In order to avoid delaying treatment, parents must pay attention to it and take their children to the hospital for examination. If it is pathological, circumcision should be performed as soon as possible. The condition will vary depending on the patient's physical health condition. |
