What are the dangers of sleepwalking in children?

If children's sleepwalking is not treated effectively and is allowed to develop, it will have a certain impact on their physical and mental health. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to understand the causes of children's sleepwalking. Once discovered, the children must be taken to the doctor.

(1) Sleepwalking often occurs at the same time as serious illnesses (such as epilepsy). Children who suffer from sleepwalking often develop a severe mental stress later in life. In such children, sleepwalking often occurs at the same time as other symptoms, alerting adults to obvious abnormalities in the child's development. In these cases, children should receive medical treatment right away.

(2) There is a type of sleepwalking that occurs mostly in normal people with healthy bodies and minds. It has obvious genetic characteristics. In the early 1980s, a philosophy professor in Munich suffered from sleepwalking, and his behavior was observed in detail by experts for more than ten years. The university professor was born into a family with sleepwalking and later married a close cousin. As a result, the couple and their three children all suffered from sleepwalking. At first, they were completely unaware of some of the abnormal behaviors they were engaging in. In the seventh year after getting married, the family of five was sitting at the dining table when the second daughter suddenly pushed over the entire table and broke a mirror in the dining room, making a loud noise. They were suddenly awakened from their dreams and realized that they all suffered from sleepwalking, so they quickly went to see a doctor.

(iii) This type of sleepwalking has the largest number of patients and its manifestations have been widely studied. Apart from the general tendency towards mental illness, this type of person has no symptoms of any illness at all. They are not suffering from mental illness but heart disease, and there is some unstable and inharmonious quality in their personalities. They are nervous and neurotic, easily moved to tears or laughter, like to make themselves the center of everything, and tend to go to extremes. The mood of these wavering and unstable people is changing almost all the time. When it comes to achieving a certain goal, they find it difficult to use reason to properly reconcile their desires. Their entire organism is often completely subject to powerful desires, and they are even dominated by such desires in their sleep. They would stand up in their dreams and walk directly toward their imaginary destination without paying attention to anything around them. This is why it is more difficult to wake up a sleepwalker than a normal sleeper. Their entire body and mind are focused on just one thing - the realization of their desires. They are completely controlled by this huge driving force. This desire seems to be independent and has no connection with their daily life, so what happens at night is not in their memory.
