Symptoms of bloody bacillary dysentery in children

Symptoms of bloody bacillary dysentery in children

Bacterial dysentery in children is more common in the summer. This is related to children's lack of attention to personal hygiene and eating some spoiled food. It may also be related to cross infection. If it is more serious, it may easily cause blood in the child's stool. This is quite harmful to children's health. As parents, we must take our children for regular treatment. Let us understand some of the manifestations of bacillary dysentery in children.

Symptoms of bloody bacillary dysentery in children

The first case: watery, no pus or blood

What does baby poop with dysentery look like? Mild dysentery is the lightest type of baby dysentery. The baby will have 2 to 4 bowel movements a day. The stool is watery or pasty, without pus or blood, and is sometimes mixed with mucus. The abdominal pain will be relieved after defecation, and most babies will not have fever or only have a low fever. Because the symptoms are atypical, it is often misdiagnosed as common enteritis.

The second situation: loose stools at first, followed by bloody stools

What does the poop of a baby with dysentery look like? This situation is the most typical. The baby's stool starts out as loose stool, and then becomes bloody and purulent. Because the intestinal mucosa has ulcerated and necrotic at this time, there is an obvious feeling of falling. This situation is accompanied by fever and vomiting. There may be no abdominal pain at first. It is often misdiagnosed as a severe cold at first. After a few hours, paroxysmal abdominal pain and diarrhea begin to occur.

The third situation: pus and blood in the stool, and the number of bowel movements is more than 20 times

What does the baby's poop with dysentery look like? This is a severe case of dysentery, which has an acute onset and high fever. The baby may have 20-30 bowel movements a day, with pus and blood in the stool and a small amount. The baby also has severe abdominal pain and heavy stool.

The fourth situation: no pus or blood in the stool, obvious systemic symptoms

What does baby poop with dysentery look like? The fourth situation is toxic dysentery, which is more common in children aged 2 to 7 years old. The onset is acute, with high fever, convulsions, coma, shock, respiratory failure, etc. Symptoms of systemic poisoning are obvious, and intestinal symptoms usually appear within 24 to 36 hours. This type of condition is more serious, and the baby's stool will not have pus and blood

The fifth situation: Mucous stools and bloody stools appear alternately

What does baby poop with dysentery look like? If the baby's illness lasts for more than 2 months, it is considered chronic dysentery. Chronic dysentery is mostly caused by incomplete treatment of mild dysentery or the child suffers from malnutrition, rickets, anemia, parasites and other diseases that cause a weak constitution. Children with this type of disease usually do not have high fever, but may sometimes experience abdominal pain, diarrhea, vomiting and low fever. They have bowel movements 3-5 times a day, with variable nature of stool, mucus, or alternating mucus, pus and blood. Note: Children with chronic dysentery are prone to other bacterial infections, such as pneumonia and tuberculosis, due to long-term malnutrition and poor resistance. Therefore, they must be treated in time.
