How to treat allergic conjunctivitis effectively

Allergic conjunctivitis is a relatively common eye disease that has a great impact on patients. It can cause conjunctival congestion, edema, and visual impairment. Therefore, you must pay attention to prevention. If you find an eye infection, you must seek medical attention in time.

1. Allergic conjunctivitis is one of the most common ocular surface diseases. Eye itching is almost a common symptom of all types of allergic conjunctivitis. The clinical manifestations include diffuse conjunctival congestion, edema, and hyperplasia of the papilla and follicles. The closer to the corner of the eye, the more serious the condition. Patients generally do not have eye pain, obvious visual impairment, and their pupils are normal.

2. Allergic conjunctivitis is caused by an allergic reaction when the conjunctival mucosa of the eye comes into contact with specific allergens. Allergens include pollen, dust, cold and damp air, dust mites, animal hair, soap, perfume, cosmetics, medicines, contact lenses and their care solutions, etc. Because people's individual physical constitutions vary greatly, different people have different allergens. The most common allergic substance that causes allergic conjunctivitis is plant pollen, and the symptoms of this allergic conjunctivitis often change seasonally. If the allergens are dust, dust mites or animal hair, etc., because these allergens exist all year round, the symptoms of allergies are also continuous throughout the year. The symptoms are relatively mild, but they may also worsen with different seasons.

3. Prevention points:

(1) Get used to washing your hands with warm water and soap regularly;

(2) Do not share eye drops or eye ointment with others;

(3) When your eyes are red and swollen, you should not wear contact lenses or apply eye makeup. If you find an eye infection, seek medical help. Use paper towels or disposable towels. Treatment: This disease is very troublesome and cannot be cured. The main purpose is to alleviate symptoms and avoid sequelae. Avoiding allergens is the most effective treatment method. You should try to avoid contact with possible allergens, such as paying attention to bed hygiene, avoiding contact with pollen, stopping wearing contact lenses, and keeping the indoor air circulating. In addition to oral anti-inflammatory drugs, topical antihistamine eye drops can achieve relatively satisfactory results. The mast cell stabilizer - sodium cromoglycate eye drops can both treat and prevent allergic conjunctivitis and is also a commonly used drug. Glucocorticoids are usually used only when other drugs are ineffective. Because of their significant side effects, they should be used with caution under the guidance of a doctor.
