Detailed explanation of the symptoms of malnutrition in children

Infantile malnutrition can cause children to show symptoms such as pale complexion, weight loss, and muscle relaxation. If it is serious, it will be detrimental to the intellectual development of children. Therefore, it is necessary to make reasonable judgments and understand these symptoms.

1. Clinical manifestations

1. Dull or pale complexion, fatigue, gradual weight loss, gradual disappearance of subcutaneous fat, loose muscles, dry hair, and in severe cases, poor intellectual development.

2. History of insufficient breast milk, improper feeding, or chronic disease.

2. Main types

1. Mild: The subcutaneous fat in the abdomen, trunk and inner thighs becomes thinner, the muscles are not firm, and the body weight is 15% to 25% lower than normal.

2. Moderate: Subcutaneous fat in the abdomen, trunk, and limbs disappears significantly, there are obvious wrinkles on the inner thighs, muscles are loose, the skin is pale and dry, the face is obviously thin, and the body weight is 25% to 40% lower than normal.

3. Severe: Subcutaneous fat in all parts of the body completely disappears, the cheeks are extremely thin, and the forehead is full of wrinkles, looking like an old man. The skin is dry, inelastic and dull, and the weight is less than 40% lower than normal.

3. Rich in nutrition and reasonable combination

For children aged 1 to 3, their teeth have all grown and their activity level has greatly increased. Therefore, children should be provided with enough high-quality protein foods. For example, children should drink at least two glasses of milk or soy milk every day. The daily food should be varied, and fine, soft and rotten food should be chosen. When feeding children, pay attention to feeding them in small amounts and frequently. In addition to three meals a day, add some snacks and fruits in the morning and afternoon.

Children aged 4 to 6 usually eat with adults. At this time, since children are growing and developing rapidly, do not ignore their nutrition issues.

School-age children should eat a good breakfast of high quality, such as milk, eggs, and meat, and give them more of them at breakfast.
